PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate first phase of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor in November, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Khan on Thursday.
Chairing a meeting of the National Highway Authority, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor said that the corridor “has the potential to revolutionise economy of the region and also open new vistas for progress and prosperity at the international level”.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will perform earth-breaking ceremony of Burhan–Abbottabad–Mansehra via Havelian section; the first phase of the project by the first week of November,” he added. He said that with the cooperation of the Asian Development Bank, a high standard communication system would be developed up to Thakot in the first phase, with further extension to China in later stages.
