Qatar definitely occupies an important position since the CENTCOM is located there and Afghan Talibans opened their office for negotiations which have entered the final phase. However, the meetings have not always been in Qatar in fact recently those were held in Russia.
Afghan Taliban have changed the game through dedication and resolute determination to win freedom.

MacDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2009) — As part of a long-planned training evolution, United States Central Command is deploying about 750 people from its Tampa headquarters to its new forward headquarters at Al Udeid Air Base, Doha, Qatar.

This deployment is not in response to any recent or ongoing operations. The primary purpose of the deployment is to exercise the CENTCOM staff's ability to seamlessly transition command and control of operations from its headquarters in Tampa to the new headquarters in Qatar in the event of a crisis in the CENTCOM area of responsibility or a natural disaster in Florida.

The last time CENTCOM deployed to its forward headquarters was August 2008, when the staff similarly exercised its continuity of operations plan

Thank you for confirming Qatar is a regional player and UAE is not a bit interested in afghan taliban and even offered to kill them. While Qatar came forward to help Pakistan in Afghan Taliban Issue. Qatar is a safe haven where Afghan Taliban can conduct peace negotiations without getting killed unlike in UAE or Pakistan.

Qatar is a safe haven where Afghan Taliban can conduct peace negotiations without getting killed unlike in UAE or Pakistan.

cant name his company he is big name in petroleum he wanted to move to oman.saying that blockade just ruined the whole country business

And Have I been Speaking Farsi ? Qatar came to Pakistan help when UAE and Saudia wanted nothing to do with AT peace negotiations.

But the Taliban's preferred venue was Qatar because they considered it a neutral location. They see Qatar as a country that has balanced relations with all sides and has a prestigious status in the Islamic world.

The US was also happy with this option.

I'm really interested in knowing that I have been following the Afghan freedom struggle as it directly affects Pakistan and we should be thankful to Qatar or any other country that facilitates the process. Our end goal is a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and hence Pakistan.
