PM greets people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has greeted the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

"My best wishes to the people of Telangana on the occasion of their Statehood Day. My best wishes for the State's development journey. Greetings & good wishes to my sisters & brothers of Andhra Pradesh in the development journey of this hardworking State," the Prime Minister said.

What special status ??
the newly formed state of A.P was promised a special status by both bjp and congress which would avail the state a tax holiday for industries that will be established in the state for a time period of 5/10 yrs among other privileges...

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday kicked off the first Telangana Formation Day celebrations by laying a wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial in Gun Park near the Legislative Assembly and paying tributes to the thousands of people who had laid down their lives for a separate State in the past few decades.

A heavy security screen was in place all around the Gun Park as police did not want to take any chances on Tuesday. On dot, at 9 a.m., the Chief Minister came to the Memorial and after paying floral tributes left for the Parade Grounds to participate in the main function.

Union MInister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya, who was also present at the Gun Park said, that they were putting together a scheme wherein eligible family members of martyrs would be given skill training that would provide them gainful employment. "The Central Government will support the Telangana State Government in all its endeavours with financial and logistic support," he promised.

Among the first to arrive at the Gun Park was Telangana Rashtra Samithi General Secretary and Rajya Sabha Member K. Keshav Rao.

For about three hours since morning, there was a steady stream of people representing different organisations paying their tributes to martyrs and getting themselves photographed against the backdrop of the Memorial.

Long after the Chief Minister and other dignitaries had left the place, a motley bunch of angry members belonging to the Mala community slipped past the tight security cordon reaching the main gates of the Assembly Complex with placards denouncing the Chief Minister, raised slogans against him for neglecting their community.

Special category status alone will not facilitate development: Naidu - The Hindu

The Central Government has already provided funding for construction of the Capital city, development of Vijayawada and Guntur cities and bridging the fiscal deficit.

While reiterating his commitment for development of the State post-bifurcation, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that growth will not be possible only with special category status. Development can be achieved provided the Central government extended monetary and policy support, he observed.

The Central Government has already provided funding for construction of the Capital city, development of Vijayawada and Guntur cities and bridging the fiscal deficit to some extent. However, a lot remains to be done and it was the responsibility of the Centre to do justice to Andhra Pradesh, he observed that in the Nava Nirmana Deeksha held at Benz Circle here on Tuesday.


Week-long festivities to celebrate Telangana's one year completion began with a bang on Tuesday. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who too completed a year in office, started the day with a tribute at the Martyrs Memorial at the Gun Park in Hyderabad.
