Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests, 10 days after testing positive for coronavirus, Downing Street has said.

He "continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus", a spokeswoman said - including a high temperature.

It was described as a "precautionary step" taken on the advice of his doctor.

The prime minister remains in charge of the government and urged people to follow its social distancing advice.

"On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests," the spokeswoman said.

"This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus ten days after testing positive for the virus."

She added: "The prime minister thanks NHS staff for all of their incredible hard work and urges the public to continue to follow the government's advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives."

You are from UK...How are things at your place? Based on the number of deaths in UK, It sounds bit scarry kind of thing..I hope all PDF UK people are safe and doing fine..

A while ago he wanted to implement "herd immunity" to combat COVID-19, But he was among the first to join this herd so at least i give him respect for following his own strategy.

Thank you for your kind sentiment.

Getting a bit hairy now with so many thousands infected and dead. The big fear now is when symptoms persist and someone ends up in a general hospital....Boris will be fine in some secure isolated unit....but most folks are going to be in crowded wards.

It is not Spain/Italy...yet, but capacity is being increased just about enough and barely in the nick of time to stay ahead of admissions.

The other big thing that is becoming apparent is that once a person is on a mechanical ventilator, there seems to be a 50:50 survival chance or thereabouts. If a person can fight it without needing ventilation, the survival odds are better.

Doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, prison guards, bus drivers and many other groups who are working through the lockdown to sustain essential services are all now on the fatalities list.

We "hope" to plateau in the next ten days.

All the best to you also, and all friends and rivals alike on pdf.

Is this not old news?
He was tested positive ten days back but mildly symptomatic hence at home recovering. It tonight seems that his symptoms have not improved hence is admitted to hospital. No indication of whether it's serious enough for ventilation at present though.

I dont think he really mean it, he thought only ordinary UK peasant will got it but he as elite of PM of UK shall not got it. I am sure, he very regretted those nonsense he uttered.
