As far as I remember Disney made a Buzz Lightyear 2D cartoon in the early 2000s as well, it was a major flop.
Now they are giving it another shot in 3D probably with a different story.

Are you kidding bro? I loved that movie as a kid. I didn't see the point of Woody and everyone else when Buzz was a solid character himself.
