For some time after reading the viet members here, I thought vietnam is fast becoming the next superpower after their allies: india and the rogue state.

The idea is very creative though suffocating though.

These are Hmong people (Chinese: Miao 苗族)of Vietnam. Looks like some of them are still living in very backward conditions.

Hmong were close ally of CIA during Vietnam war, and were described as the best Irregular fighters fighting against North Vietnam.

What the source for that? During the war against the French, Hmong was generally fought with the French against Kinh people in the North West area and as a consequence, many escaped to the South in 1954, of course they would side with the US. But absolute majority of Hmong people, who remained intheir homeland, sided with North Vietnam goverment after 1954.

Hmong people were split into pro-North Vietnam and against North Vietnam, though most of them were on the North Vietnam side.

My main source - "Soldier of Fortune Magazine August 1990, and few others. I can't find the magazine article on the Hoh Chi Minh trail op by US-South Vietnamese-Hmong special forces since it is some 30 years old, but I found one in Laos - Hmong against LPA and PAVN. (Laos People's Army, People's Army of Vietnam)

Most of the anti-North Vietnamese Hmong groups operated in North and Central Highlands bordering Laos, and inside Laos. They were most active in Laos but PAVN had heavy presence in Laos and both PAVN and LPA were their enemy.

Part of the long article of Hmong anti-government group in Laos fighting against LPA and PAVN.

That's very dangerous, parents should never do that to their children. Education is important, but is not worth your life.
well there are also some very dangerous practice in china when it come to studying for example hooking students to IV drips .

the photos are from Xiaogan, Hubei province, China.
honestly its understandable for me what Vietnamese villagers do but what some Chinese schools do is what I can't accept as a logical decision.
