PIA continues its flight in the red

Lol Both PIA and air India needs to be shut down to save tax payers money. both are a burden on state exchequer

I am sorry but in Pakistan PPP wont let it happen because thats where they employe their supporters in 10s of thousands when they come in power.

May be Asif Zardari could buy PIA using his billion dollar that he stole from the country. Then he can have another 10,000 supporters working for PIA.

PIA's international and domestic routes which serves 200 million population in Pakistan and nearly 2 million overseas is attractive to any international investor. More than half of PIA employees have to be terminated. The Turkish Airlines tried to buy PIA and it still remain the most viable option. Privately owned and restructured PIA would win back
airline business is complicated, only an airline owned by some one in Pakistan will flurish, govt should terminate half of the employees via some golden hand shake project and look for merger with a local player with handing over the management to them

More than a Pakistani owner we need a team that can turn around PIA with technical and administrative expertise and have financial clout. There are three medium sized Pakistani owned airlines. KLM is owned by Air France through consolidation of airline industry and the national airlines are dying breeds. Pakistan should be spending its money building schools so that children attend schools rather than Madrassahs.

true but there are many small experienced profit making pakistani airlines. merger will be better for all of them so as we can can compete with regional airlines. we have the market but it has been completely stolen by regional airlines.

Selling shares of a loss making company is not going to be a good step. Selling the entire airline would have Pakistan loosing a strategic organ.

The only solution is to replace old aircraft and upgrade the maintenance facilities so that the costs can saved.

I think 49% of PIA shares including administration can be sold to foreign airline that can turn arounf PIA. Around 50-66% of PIA employee must be fired/sacked.

lets see it realistically.

49% do not give majority.
Hence who is going to control...Still GOP
What money is given would still be going in the red because the share price is not going to increase as the airline would still be following the same system.
One can not sack an employ until some malpractice is reported and all proper procedure meaning Supreme Court order has been revived for his / her termination. This is going to take ages look at our legal system till that time these people can not be stopped from work or salary and other perks must be paid.

If we plan some thing like Golden shake hand then what amount is given without these people working would be taken as a criminal act.

So what must be done is only to add newer aircraft and increase maintenance facilities.
