I would like to add some words, from a very individual perspective.

My icons were, and are, @niaz Sahib, @fatman17 and Oscar, now, I think, identifying himself as @SQ8 ; though maybe a decade or more younger than I, he was always a person whose opinion had enormous weight for me, almost as much as the other two lofty personalities.

@Jungibaaz, @Chak Bamu, and @Arsalan were personal friends; @waz and @WAJsal were not merely friends, but, much like the other three, active guardians against very hostile attacks from other members. I am amused to reflect on the fact that these attacks were from both sides of the border; it may be said that perhaps I was an equal opportunity offender. Several of them, and including @VCheng and @RAMPAGE and the one and only @Kaptaan, were friends inside and outside the forum. Let me explain; during my career that spanned thirty five years with long stretches working for the military, I have met a lot of people; these whom I mention above are among those whom I would be delighted to ask home to tea. In some circles, that is a closer relationship than those merely invited to a meal of some other sort.

I am not mentioning Indian members, including some very good friends both inside and outside the forum, because it would rob the remarks of Pakistani members about them of their full flavour. They deserve to be applauded in full measure, beyond the words of mere friends. For that reason, I am leaving out all mention of Indian figures, except for one.

What about frenemies? I had to start this to salute @M. Sarmad and @SecularNationalist, who alternately enthrals and enfuriates me; enthrals by his logic, enfuriates by his insistence that I am a Sanghi (he said something rude even today! ). Thanks to Sarmad Sahib's very sharp and scholarly interpretation of his nation's stand on controversial matters, I was forced to sharpen my thinking by a focussed reading of whatever was available, and of some astonishing by-ways that we shall leave out on this re-telling.

In terms of military matters, historically speaking @AUSTERLITZ was in a class all of his own; I was stunned to find after returning after an absence that he had lost his head and used astonishing language and been permanently banned. It was like the earth opening up in front of me. So, too, when @Nilgiri lost his cool and went under the axe. Then there were the almost professional, @Signalian and @Irfan Baloch (I never could figure out where he was coming from), who filled in all the available gaps, but at the head was the serving officer who illuminated so very many obscure spaces, including how one of our Indian war heroes met his death, not, as we had thought, in criminal circumstances, but in battle, and without deliberate malice. It was a feeling of great relief, as that was in the alternate belief an unbearable burden, an unforgivable act of the opposing armed people.

The last fascinating thing I was engaged in was the very beginning of a light-hearted exercise, that brought home several strategic lessons very sharply, lessons that remain relevant. It was a team effort, and my other three Indian colleagues were co-parceners, so to speak.

Now I look forward to seeing many of you again, elsewhere, and also assure you that @Bilal9's annoyance with other places is not beyond amelioration.

Migration to a new platform ? They will show same mentality and colours there as they’re blinded with negativity and hatred.

I feel there is no hope of Pakistani middle class specially the educated person who want to change their life ...

Future of Pakistan is more like african countries where there is huge class gap between elite and common people ... future Pakistan is close to nigeria where people of lagos are living better than west and rest of nigeria is like villages of Pakistan ... similar structure will be here for islamabad, DHAs and other powerful societies ... rest will be villages or slumps

Whose “they”?
The forum went through a lot of critical stuff like being hacked - funding and it survived. You personally get told where to stick it - you then become the guardian of - I told you so - things were doomed - they’ve ruined everything.
I beg to differ. The forum is an asset to the army and its members. Unfortunately someone got offended and it affected their payroll or they felt at risk - hence it came to this.
People will find other methods of
Venting their frustrations and it won’t shut them down. On the other hand the damage done by the elite and those on the take - that damage will take years to repair.
How I yearn the day the elite and those involved
In the destruction of Pakistan will allow the rivers to be full of blood. Perhaps 1500 to 2000 families - when this happens Pakistan can start afresh.
The reset button is what we yearn for.

On the subject at hand, as an Indian I’ve not commented a lot on here. But some names like @AgNoStiC MuSliM or @fatman17 (two of many) come to mind whose perspective I will miss.

As for joining a new forum I will bide my time. I may be more cautious type but given the shenanigans around this forum closure, I would want to know more about any new website before I sign up.

So I guess I’ll check it out for a while before joining.

Agree, 2 things led to threats and closure… Firstly ghq/pmln have closed down or software updated any msm not towing their line or showing any news or support regarding PTI, secondly the amount of news and alternative coverage on this forum on the genocide and holocaust taking place in Gaza and reporting of Israeli losses which they are trying to hide.

Not at hard for IL to pressure Pak army and establishment given the outcome of a meeting held by a third tier state department official was enough to make establishment shix in their pants..

IL is trying to get the internet and msm under their censorship and tow their narrative..
