All previous pathways are large enough for the road to work..they were around 20 feet wide...
What hppened is simply constructor cutting corners and not moving the lines and not putting a foundation ..this road will be broken within a year without a base
Its not just this road, if you have traveled in rural areas of Pakistan, you would notice that there has been a lack of future planning. its just in recent years that wider roads are being constructed in some newly developed areas, which could be due to influx of cars. However, majority of villages in Pakistan are British or Mughal era. The streets (or galli) in the villages are so narrow that only two bicycles can pass through adjacent to each other. The major roads inside the village can accommodate one car passage at most places where the other waits. There is no concept of parking inside the village. Coming outside the village, most road leading up to the village are single roads, some have wide area to be two lanes, but only a single lane is made, just like the road in post #1. the road can be widened to make two lanes. One of the factors could be amount of traffic, but even thats no excuse since at some stage up-gradation will need to be done especially since post 2000's, traffic has grown linearly. Little attention has been given to villages and people of rural areas have been living in compromises. There are many roads, some bridges and tunnels made from British era. They are still functioning today and some have causes major accidents and loss of life. So planning of roads and related infrastructure is one issue.
Safety is another major issue, which is taken for granted and thrown on will/cover of God like Allah maalik hay. It has taken two decades to enforce helmets for bike riders in Lahore alone, still riders dont wear helmets. Lack/absence of safety measures causes accidents, fills us hospitals, gets heavy on the pocket etc.
When i said up there that Pakistan is what Pakistanis are, reflects that Pakistan or Govt cannot be blamed. People of Pakistan are to be blamed, Pakistanis form Pakistan. If people can do rallies, dharnas, oust Governments by riots and coming on the streets - then why not do the same for their rights. People themselves are lazy in this regard, they want new and newer Government to come and clean the mess of past decades, make a utopia of Pakistan while Pakistani citizens enjoy their lives and make money.
If contractor cut corners, if MPA/MPA, Nazim etc were involved, they are people from among us, they are not aliens from Mars or expatriates from another country. They and us live and breathe in the same system. Why did the residents of the area accept this development ? Why didn't they raise their voice ? So contractor does a job and the residents are happy with it ? Looks this way. Like i said above, Pakistanis want to sit at comfort of home and want new and newer Governments to come and clean the mess, forgetting that everyone in every Government department, every contractor, every mason - is from among us, Pakistanis.
When travelling on GT road or on motorway, tolls have to paid. When driving on G T road, even tolls make no sense. Like am i paying tolls for a road which is constantly under construction in patches, broken at many places and filled with pot holes. Who can i charge if my car gets damaged due to the uneven or pot filled road, after all i am paying tolls.
Well considering the $$$ both PML And PPP collect each year and then they also take international development loans in almost half a billion figures , the sorry state of their cities is testament to their failure
@ziaulislam
See, he is also blaming the Governments. No one takes the blame on themselves.
Mashallah khata hai tu lagata bhi hai
G, aur aap aur meray hi beech mein se uth k contractor bana hay, hum dono ki tarah woh bhi Pakistani hay.
Nawaz needed that money to fix his platelets in London while staying at home .
Yes Mate, Blame the Government which is run by people of Pakistan.
Nawaz didnt descend from Jupiter, IK didnt descend from Mars, Musharraf didnt descend from Pluto, Zardari didnt descend from Mercury, BB didnt descend from Venus.
