Pakistan urges FATF to replace India as co-chair to ensure fair review process

more like, the judge has had a 70 year rivalry with me, and has fought multiple wars.

In any sane court, the judge would have reqused himself.

Anyways, Pakistan is showing the world it is taking steps while India is showing the world the horros of Hindutva terror.
Did that happen in Tokyo or Nuremberg?

Transparency ??? LOL, look who is talking about transparency ???

Just because you say someone is a terrorist doesn't make him/them terrorists. You should prove it transparently before the world.

While India is trying to do that (transparently), someone is depended on their opaque military court verdict to sell their story across the world. It ain't work that way. LOL :disagree::disagree::disagree:

And regarding any alleged Indian state sponsored terrorism, I guess it's a separate case and you will have to take it separately with actionable proof so that FATF can act on it. Why is Pakistan shying away from that ?? Ever thought, huh ???? :azn:

lol US Defense Secetary Chuk Hagel says, "India for some time has always used Afghanistan as a second front, and India has over the years financed problems for Pakistan on that side of the border. And you can carry that into many dimensions, the point being (that) the tense, fragmented relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been there for many, many years."

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Asad Umar has said that he has the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) president to remove India from the position of co-chair for the Pakistan FATF review.

Asad Umar took to Twitter saying, “India has blatantly abused its position by lobbying to get Pakistan blacklisted in the last review in Paris. We successfully defended our position Alhamdulillah.”

According to The News report Pakistan will have to demonstrate its compliance on 15 major conditions of the FATF till May 2019 in order to avoid falling into blacklist.

In addition to these 15 major demands for the May-related deadline, the FATF in its last plenary meeting held in Paris also included three more steps for review in coming May/June meeting including (1) revising/updating Pakistan’s national risk assessment on terror financing, (2) improving FBR’s customs report on cash couriers to curb currency smuggling and (3) placing inter agency cooperation mechanism among law enforcing agencies at federal and provincial levels.

So the FATF will gauge performance on total 18 points, including three above-mentioned, in the coming FATF meeting expected to be held in Colombo in June.

Takes me back to my college days :-)

Pak preparing on last day before exam and panicking  Plea to remove tough examiner to pass

You could have taken action on the extremist orgs weeks before :disagree:

Did that happen in Tokyo or Nuremberg?

Are you that delusional?
those two nations lost a WORLD WAR!

Last I recall, Pakistan did not lose any world wars to India.

Man, it's not even been a week since you people were humilitaed and you are already back to "Supa Dupa Pawa Incredible India"

FATF is neither a court of nor the members in that are any judges. They are representatives of the respective member countries and will always look after the interests of their country and allies.

Sorry, but Pakistan doesn't have any voice as far as FATF is concerned since you are not even a member to begin with.

Do you think the world, especially the 36 members of FATF excluding India are all fools to take everything we say at face value without scrutinizing the proofs and looking into the merit's of the case before them, huh ????

If we have learned anything during the last few days, anyone who belives anything Indians say (Including indians themselves) are certainly fools.

It was you who was humiliated. First air strikes in Pak, then Pak aircraft chased out into Pak airspace. Not to mention, the return of Abhinandan and your crackdown on groups India insisted you must. What exactly did you achieve except assuage your public that you took down an Indian jet in your own airspace?

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has asked the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to remove India from the co-chair of a body that is reviewing progress on implementation of an action plan, in a development that is aimed at frustrating Indian tactics to get Islamabad blacklisted.

Finance Minister Asad Umar has asked the FATF President Marshall Billingslea to appoint any other member as co-chair of the Asia-Pacific’s Joint Group, in place of India, to ensure that the FATF review process is fair, unbiased and objective, said the Ministry of Finance on Saturday.

The Joint Group is a sub-body of the International Cooperation Review Group (ICRG) of the Asia Pacific Group. Pakistan is a member of the APG and its case is being presented before the FATF by the APG. India’s Financial Intelligence Unit’s (FIU) director general is the co-chair of the Joint Group.

“India’s animosity towards Pakistan is well known and the recent violation of Pakistan’s airspace and dropping of bombs inside Pakistani territory is another manifestation of India’s hostile attitude,” wrote Umar while seeking removal of India.

Govt announces crackdown on UN terror list groups

Indian aircraft violated Pakistani airspace on February 26, invoking a response from Pakistan the next day that led to shooting down of two Indian jets. Since then the tensions between the two arch-rivals are at their peak.

“Pakistan will also lobby with the friendly countries to get India removed from the co-chair of the Joint Group after New Delhi abused its position in the last FATF meeting,” said Umar talking to The Express Tribune. “India submitted a separate dossier against Pakistan that undermined the FATF’s neutrality.”

He said Pakistan would not boycott the FATF process but will use every available avenue to make sure that India no more politicises the global body. India was at the forefront to get Pakistan blacklisted during the FATF meeting.

Because of India’s move, the FATF did not express satisfaction on the implementation of the action plan. The global body that is working to curb terrorism financing and money laundering asked Pakistan to reassess the ranking of banned terrorist outfits.

In his letter, the finance minister referred to a statement regarding efforts for global isolation of Pakistan and Indian call for the blacklisting of Pakistan during the ICRG meeting on February 18, 2019, which demonstrated Indian intentions to hurt Pakistan’s economic interests.

Pakistan has taken steps towards improving AML, CFT: FATF

The FATF has asked Pakistan to properly demonstrate that it has a better understanding of risks posed by proscribed organisations.

Umar has written the letter about two months before Joint Group would review implementation on over 15 points of the agreed Action Plan. The Joint Group meeting is scheduled to take place in May in Sri Lanka. After that, the FATF Plenary meeting will be held in the United States in June this year.

Pakistan is again anticipating tough Indian opposition during May and June meetings.

“Given the clear Indian motivation to hurt Pakistan’s economic interests, Indian presence among the evaluators and as co-chair of the Joint Group would undermine the impartiality and spirit of the ‘peer review’ process, which lies at the heart of FATF’s methodology and objective assessment,” he wrote.

The minister said Pakistan firmly believes that India’s involvement in the ICRG process will not be fair towards Pakistan and urged that FATF appoint another country as co-chair of the Joint Group instead of India to ensure an impartial assessment of Pakistan’s progress in regard to the FATF action plan.

“The ICRG and FATF meetings must not be allowed to be used as a platform by India to make political speeches against Pakistan. Sanctity of the FATF processes requires that separate assessments by individual countries for politically motivated outcomes are not allowed under the ICRG review.”

The minister assured the FATF president that “Pakistan remains firm in its commitment to work with FATF/ICRG and the Joint Group and to implement the action plan” and demanded that “FATF must take steps to ensure that the ICRG process is fair, unbiased and impartial towards Pakistan”.

In June last year, the FATF had placed Pakistan on the grey list of countries whose domestic laws are considered weak to tackle the challenges of money laundering and terrorism financing.

Earlier, Pakistan raised its concern with the Asia Pacific Group in June last year over India’s negative attitude and its intentions to hurt Pakistan’s interests but no action was taken in regard to re-composition of the Joint Group. Similar concerns were also raised with FATF Secretariat and ICRG Co-chairs on the sidelines of the FATF Plenary of February 2019, said the finance minister.

Although Pakistan has taken up the issue of Indian attempts to politicise the FATF, it also needs to strengthen the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) and the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) to present a strong case in the next FATF and ICRG meetings.

There is also a need to strengthen the institutional capacity of the FMU by appointing people who have a background in handling the AML and Counter-Terrorism Financing issues.

So far, most of the staff comprises people who have come on deputation from the State Bank of Pakistan. The FMU also needs to be equipped to tackle challenges posed by the flow of black money from the non-banking financial sector.

India is activity lobbying at every platform against Pakistan, either sports, economy or anything.

It is time for Pakistan to mobilize the population of Pakistan against india, just like india is mobilizing indian population against Pakistan, it is must for the survival of Pakistan. India is not willing to be a mature nation whatsoever. Your peace gesture or anything toward peace will not stand against the indian biased hates.

There will be definitely a horrible war so prepare and be ready, india is just want to understand the language of most brutal act in the history of humankind.
