ISLAMABAD: Pakistan have decided to hold a strategic consultation with China as Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will travel to Beijing, informed sources said.

Pakistan’s foreign minister in his three-day visit will hold consultations in Beijing with the Chinese leadership, according to the sources.

Foreign Minister Qureshi will discuss the security situation in South Asia with the context to the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions in the region after the Pulwama attack and violation of Pakistan’s airspace by the Indian air force and firing at the border.

Qureshi will hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other government officials.

The foreign minister will be leaving for Beijing on Sunday, and the strategic consultation between the officials of two countries will take place on Monday and Tuesday, the well placed sources said.

Pakistan’s foreign minister will apprise the Chinese leaders the latest steps taken by the government of Pakistan to de-escalate the situation.

The minister will also brief the Chinese leaders about the steps taken at the internal level, the sources added.

Pakistan and China have been close allies in the region as well as at the global stage calling their ties all-weather relationship.

China has launched the CPEC project under its Belt and Road Initiative in Pakistan, which carries the largest foreign investment in the country in recent years.

I was just wondering, if China would apply the same cheap tactics as India does vis-a-vis Pakistan, what will the region look like?

Just imagine on every small thing happening in China, they would rush their advanced military hardware to the border and start threatening India with strikes etc.

Only I know China being a very responsible and forward looking nation, well on its way to become the next superpower, will never do it.

But what if?

The current indian leadership has immature approach and recently it costed them dearly.

indians use chanakya where the Chinese have over 2 millennia of experience in matters of successful diplomacy and it shows. the indians had the backing of the west especially that c#nt john bolton. The results that followed unfortunately has put all of them in a difficult position.

Well if Chanakya would be that clever then he would have made it to the highest orders of the history books.
But I doubt that anyway outside sub-continent even knows him.

Just shows how flawed his methods and thought process was. May be successful for a while, but in longer term doomed to fail.

Whereas Chinese have shown that hardwork and intelligent diplomacy win you friends all over.

Indias Chanakya strategy of slapping herself and blaming it on others has failed miserably on the other hand.

No. Seriously I have read on Chanakya and I hold him in high regard. If you take the time to read about him you will also earn respect for him. He towers over the better known Nicolo Machiavelli. To conflate his name with Ganghoo's like Modi is to slur Chanakya.

Since he comes from our Indus Valley, I'll need to read more about him. Ok lets find out more about the man... any suggested reads? :-)

Chinese diplomacy vs Chanakya??

Difference is that if India tries to retaliate to Chinese strikes, how we responded, half of the Indian Air Force will be wiped out within three days of the conflict..

In our case, India moved its Su 30 farther away from the border..

Something big is going on ... economic alliance is there, it might be coupled with military alliance like logistical support as US has with India

Sun Tzu vs Chanakya
Who is better??? Just a curious question.......

Classical Chinese is distinguished from written vernacular Chinese in its style, which appears extremely concise and compact to modern Chinese speakers. Below is just a paragraph.

孫子兵法 - The Art of War

谋攻 - Attack by Stratagem

孙子曰:凡用兵之法,全国为上,破国次之;全旅为上,破旅次之;全卒为上,破卒次之;全伍为上,破伍次之。是故百战百胜,非善之善者也;不战而屈人之兵,善之善者也。
Sunzi said: In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy's country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not so good. So, too, it is better to recapture an army entire than to destroy it, to capture a regiment, a detachment or a company entire than to destroy them. Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.

故上兵伐谋,其次伐交,其次伐兵,其下攻城。攻城之法,为不得已
Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy's plans; the next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces; the next in order is to attack the enemy's army in the field; and the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities. The rule is, not to besiege walled cities if it can possibly be avoided.

I read a little about Chanakya diplomacy thoughts couple of years ago, his strategy seems quite similar to 合纵连横(Make verticle and horizontal alliance to isolate the current major enemy).

In China Warring States period (450 BC - 200 BC) , this diplomacy strategy was used and well known in China for more than 2000 years.
