Karachi - An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi on Wednesday issued the black warrant of deathrow prisoner Saulat Mirza. The execution of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist is expected to place at 5.30am on March 19.

Earlier, jail authorities had submitted an application with an ATC in Karachi requesting it to issue a black warrant for the condemned prisoner.

Mirza was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in May 1999 for murdering the managing director of then named Karachi Electric Supply Corporation Shahid Hamid, his driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar in July 1997.

He was moved along with four high-profile prisoners to the Machh jail, Balochistan, in April 2014.

In May last year, Mirza’s brother petitioned the high court to move him to a Karachi prison.

He argued that his brother had been shifted to the Machh jail without the orders of the competent authority or any notification.

The petition had been disposed of by provincial authorities on the pretext of security reasons.

Mirza had also submitted a mercy petition before the president which was rejected after it remained pending for a long time.

Political activists do not kill people for the sake of politics, if they do they are not activists, they are plain terrorists. We understand why some people are reluctant to call these terrorists by what they really are and this only encourages other terrorists.

Why announce the date ! Just hang him high ! I guess they want to reprieve his sentence if MQM agrees to their demands. If he is guilty the just hang why have back deals with MQM.

This is the problem with most secular politicians, justice and fairness are foreign words to them. Whatever suites them is conveniently described as just and fair.

It was late Ch Aslam who arrested him on Bangkok airport. Ch Aslam got promotion for this and it was Ch Aitazaz Ahsan who won the petition and forced the court to hang him.

He will not be able to watch the world cup quarter final :woot:

@Imran Khan @Irfan Baloch @Leader @Jazzbot @Jzaib

This guy, Mirza, was under Governor's protection for years. Death sentences against the criminals like Mirza would prove to be useful as opposed to against Taliban who're not afraid to blow themselves up in pieces in the first place.
