In Pakistan we can see people debating on how molvis are spreading hate and creating issues for the country. They are blamed for muslims bad performance and lag in the fields of science and technology. But no body have ever noticed that all those who did that are millionare molvis who are getting money through donations and sometimes through peeri mureedi.
But that doesn't even make 1% of the molvis. The other 99% are suffering.
In Pakistan thousands graduate from madrassas every year. After graduating they get into the real life where they have earn money and feed their children, but our society fail to provide them with any job or help, so that his children may not face the same fate as he is suffering from.
In our every street or colony there are mosques built by the locals and local hire a molvi for th mosque. Now the real dark side of our society starts here. The molvi had to stay in mosque for whole day for 5 prayers and he can't do any job with his current job.
The molvis, which are imam and lead us in prayers are not even paid Rs 10,000 and in some cases they are paid Rs 3000 or less. He had to feed his children in that money. He can't send them to schools, he will be forced to send them to madrassa and his children will await the same future as his father.
Despite such harsh conditions, these people never spread any hate nor extremism. But our actions may make their children extremists and terrorists.
I am writing it to spread awareness using this forum, after i met an imam which is given only Rs 3000 by the ahle mahala.

They should quit being movlis and get real jobs. Being a molvi and leading prayers shouldn't be a career.

not true, quran bachooon ko kon parhata hai? Alot of molvi's go house to house for teaching young kids, and if they are busy they send their senior pupil. And people pay good money for that.

Well, I think he is just living in a poor neighborhood, with 1 room mosque.

they can't, because they don't know anything else. Its society which need to help such people. Its up to us.

they are influenced by their institutions and heads of school of thought with years of spoon fed education which has already done enough damage that you can't change them and now they are ready to bring up their kids with same school of thought.

several years of negligence on back to back govts in education sector is also one of the major cause of mushrooming of these madrasas.

the day they themselves will realize they are suffering, things will be good not only for them but for the whole nation.

the truth is that majority of us dont care about soul of the religion. if my kid is intelligent i will never ever send him to well reputed islamic centers rather i will send him to medical , engineering college and after graduation i will send him abroad for post graduation and job. this is the attitude of 99.% of our general population. and then we all complaint that there are no good scholars in our society. we all want to excel in this world and religion today is nothing more then set of rituals devoid of soul. after earning wealth by telling lies, frauds and corruption we go to mosques, offer prayers in arabinc without understanding even a word. we recite quran at some "khatam" or milad or on someones death without understanding any thing. with wealth earned through illegal ways we go to hajj and umra and come back with tasbeeh in our hands, dates from madinah and bottles of aab e zam zam.

you are right. it is responsibility of every adult muslim to be able to lead in a prayer, offer namaz e janazah of his own dead father, should have full basic understanding of Quran and sunnah and be able to groom his next generation according to the guidelines of islam. are you equipped enough to take on this responsibility??? we put our intelligent kids in beacon house and city schools and kids with low IQ in madrassahs and then we expect to have hakeem luqman, maulana rumi, allama iqbal, zakir naik etc

We need to correct and merge our education system. First 12 years of combined education for all after that they can choose specialised fields like medicine theology engineering etc.

Government should ask the Molvi to declare money they collect vs spend on themselves or simple make it illegal for them to collect unless they can provide money trail

Well put mate.

It is easy to criticize and very very difficult to actually implement something.
