Pakistan refuse to tone down Wagah ceremony

LAHORE: Pakistan on Thursday rejected India’s request to tone down the flag-lowering ceremony at Wagah Border.

According to a media hand-out, Director-General of Punjab Rangers Major-General Muhammad Yaqoob Ali Khan has said the parade will continue in the traditional aggressive style. He said that a hand shake between the two sides’ rangers will continue.
Earlier last month, on the request of the Indian Border Security Force, Punjab Rangers had decided to discontinue the aggressive marching approach during the flag march ceremony at the Wagah Border.
Director-General of Punjab Rangers Major-General Muhammad Yaqoob Ali Khan and Director-General of India’s BSF Raman Shrivastav had also decided to take steps to free prisoners. They agreed to urge their respective governments to release fishermen held by both sides after minimum detention and paperwork.

Exactly why??

Because it is as good as a circus spectacle (tamasha). People go to a circus to see trained animals and clowns perform, among other things. Necessary to keep the box-office counters clicking. Not to mention creating business for the local "chai and moongphali wallahs".

Finally, somebody realized the stupidity of it all. When India tones it down, Pakistan will have no reason to carry on with the pomp and show.

And only an insecure kid will see this as India running away from a fight.

In other words you are calling Pakistan an insecure kid, fair enough, your opinion. Im pretty sure though had things been the other way around, Indians would see Pakistanis as running away. We have pretty much the same mentality just so you know.

Not sure why Rangers backed off...I have myself seen the prade at wagah border and it is really very aggressive. Not sure what people think but it do play a part in increasing hatred towards other side of the border....All people watching the prade wants their side to out-do the other....It do increase the tempo though people behave maturely(atleast when i was watching) and don't say bad things about the other side....

I think we should definitely let them do whatever they want and tone it down form our side....The best way to argue with someone spewing nonsense is to keep quite...

It would be better if the exercise is toned down to atleast 2-3 times a month instead of doing it daily...

Will create more interest and good for soldiers knees.
