Caught snorkeling 80 NM south of Ormara.
Probably charging his batteries, but caught.....alas..
Whatever on media is crazy.
she was snorkeling as she knows she has been detected ... what else you want ... detecting a non.attacking submarine is very difficult ...From dawn.com:
Vice Admiral (retd) Tasneem, a decorated war veteran and a submarine commander having the accolade of sinking Indian Navy's warship INS Khukri during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, said “the Indian submarine was detected 40 nautical miles off Pakistani coast”.
While talking to Dawn.com, Tasneem said that the Indian submarine “surfaced to periscope depth because it had probably exhausted its battery and had no other option but to surface and recharge its battery”.
“She was snorkelling, because she knew she had been detected. So there was no point of further exhausting the battery,” the ace Pakistani submarine commander said.
“The submarine was detected 40 nautical miles off the Pakistani coast in international waters and our naval assets detected and forced it back to 65 nautical miles,” said the war veteran.
Looks like all this is making a hen from a feather.
Its a Indian type 209..Finally,the persicope arrangement seen in the one black and white photo they released doesn't match either the indian kilo class,or sindhughosh class or the akula but is very similar to the agosta 90B class.So either they mistook their own submarine or this is a deliberate stunt to secure more funds from the army dominated budget.
It depends on the mission. If it is going on a goodwill visit or a port call, it doesn't need to be submerged. Same with maintainance visits...So,
Subs don't sail showing themselves in open waters---once they leave their base and submerge---they stay submerged. They are hidden assets and never surface when in vicinity of surface vehicles---. They can snorkel but never close to enemy waters---knowing that the area is under constant surveillance---.
The sub was PINGED hard and was forced to surface.
The same international law which requires subs to surface while transiting eez? The law allows you to impound the vessel and impose penalty. It is like you intercept and take pictures over lahore but let IAF plane return.Could be, should be is irrelevant. What matters is what is done now; to avoid sons, fathers, brothers & daughters and sisters as well now; from dying on what is nothing more than a water dispute.
Yes.. it's something called international law and being professionals that we dont shoot aircraft out in planned ambushes or shoot patrolling troops in what is essentially a cessation of hostilities.
Perhaps you can write to the PN about being unprofessional warmongering bloodthirsty savages as the best role model to match the behavior you are suggesting as best for your own armed forces.
if you just translate thinking in hindi to english like the above post,it dsnt convay what you want to say.kehna kya chahtay ho.ch ch ch ch ch ch,,,
I can see you sad,
even when you smile,
even when you laugh,
I can see in your eyes
deep inside you wanna cry...![]()
Yeah, no. The one you mentioned is for "STRAIT". it is entirely different than EEZ. Straits are Infact territorial waters but UN has allowed navigation, hence heavy restrictions. EEZs aren't territorial waters. Wonder how come you don't know the difference between the 2.can you support your claim .... do you have the the official transit route of that submarine with you ....???
& like old indian habit of distorting the law & give new interpretations according to their likeness .... you are repeating your idiotic mantra agin n again ... have you even took any reference from UNCLOS .... plz check it again ...
The idiocy which you are posting about the submarines are required to come to surface under UNCLOS is necessary only under PART II. TERRITORIAL SEA AND CONTIGUOUS ZONE & Article 20 deals with it
Even if for sake of argument if one accepts your argument of transit passage In EEZ & Continental shelf Part III section-2 of UNCLOS is applicable and Article-39 the deals with the duties of ships transiting which states
Duties of ships and aircraft during transit passage
1. Ships and aircraft, while exercising the right of transit passage, shall:
(a) proceed without delay through or over the strait;
(b) refrain from any threat or use of force against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of States bordering the strait, or in any other manner in violation of the principles of international law embodied in the Charter of the United Nations;
(c) refrain from any activities other than those incident to their normal modes of continuous and expeditious transit unless rendered necessary by force majeure or by distress;
(d) comply with other relevant provisions of this Part.
what the hell Indian armed submarine was doing near Pakistan's sea for 4 days .... ??
Indian armed submarine was not a threat to Pakistan .... ???
SO STOP THIS BULLSHIT.....
Google and check the periscope arrangements on the masts of the sub types - akula,kilo,sindhugosh(which is only deployed in vishkhapatnam base anyway on the other side of the ocean) and agosta90b.You'll see its most similar to agosta 90b.

a country with strong intelligence agencies can't be defeated. syria is the example.
those with huge amount would have already changed their notes even before the announcements. Subcontinent politicians are indeed corrupt.only poor people suffer.

My dear patriotic indian what was indian submarine doing near pakistani territorial water it was ofz for monitoring cpec related activities ...A submarine which is on International Waters 28 nautical miles from the territorial waters of Pakistan
is nothing worth making a fuzz about.
That the PN is detecting a submarine which has decided to go to the surface using its snorkel is even less to write about.
