PNSC acquires a clean product tanker

Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has added a ship in its fleet worth $30 million, aimed at meeting the increasing domestic demand for shipping services in the country, according to the official sources.

The ship, known as a clean product tanker, is Korean made with a capacity of 75,000 DWT of LR-1 category. It was built in 2012, then reconditioned and upgraded in accordance with the requirements of the PNSC.

According to the official sources, the vessel has been purchased from PNSC’s own finances without any guarantee or loan from the federal government.

PNSC locked in the price at $30 million when the market was slow some months ago, however, due to the uptick in the market the prevailing price of the same vessel is now $31 million in the international market

Yes! Some good news finally! reduce reliance on foreign carriers, and save some much needed foreign reserves. KSEW should also look into building some commercial vessels now.

Really a visionary guy... if each minister thinks like him and tries to reduce costs and dependence on others.

I think there is Pakistan Marine academy although we are losing talent to international operators or am I out of info for too long after my stint at Manora because my batch mate who dropped out of PN finally graduated from Marine Academy and served for few years on a maltese ship with registry in Greece.

Merchant Navy and fleet needs to be increased.

I knew a person who had recently retired from merchant navy of some country. He was raking in some serious money.

We pay a lot of freight to others and we need to expand our fleet considering our trade requirement.

Sir G, after HSC I applied for but not successful ... so upon your posted point I tried to find and it is very much there.
IMO may be not as active as it should be which the general and dire situation of our most of the institutes. OR may be the restriction on new programme due to lack of fleet. However, they could promote it for earning foreign exchange/local funds for elevating it to world class institute.
