I used Google Street View to check out your coast. It is friggin fabulous. I am jealous of you guys. Tunisia appears to be dream. So I am thinking of go there. Might pick your mind for ideas.

Malta is an interesting country, Tunisians and Maltese can actually Understand each others on basic conversations, Since their language is partly made of TN dialects.
As for Tunisia, In Fall and Winter, the Desert area / the South is the way to go... Spring it's the Beautiful green countryside and Summer it's beaches. Few beaches I do Find interesting, since they are not flooded with Tourist... The ones around Nabeul. Bizerte and Mostly the southern part.
And Last, Reality may not be at the level of your imagination/idealisation, but it's like that for everything I guess.
