Pakistan escapes list of states violating religious freedom

Why bother publishing it in your newspaper if you guys didn't make it to the list. It almost seems like Pakistanis are disappointed.

If there are such killings they are not condoned by the state in pakistan.

There are people on death row in Pakistan for insulting Islam. The majority of them are whipped-up charges from personal enemies. This is a form of religious persecution. We had a big thread on it here a while back.

As for these "lists", they are made by anyone with an agenda and $$. There must be thousands of special interests groups in the USA, from "Save the Dolphins" to "Aliens are real." They all publish stupid lists. I wouldn't read too much into any of them.

When lists become (or affect) actual U.S. foreign policy, then it's time to be concerned.

Chogy im getting worried these days I seem to be agreeing with you a lot. I agree with you regarding the list. I actually think that if what you say in your first paragraph regarding the death row its despicable and as our political leaders seem to listen more to your govt than they do to us perhaps the American govt should bring pressure to bear to change the situation. After all they managed to get R davies released they may be able to assist here too.
