I think Pakistan, rather than Iran, should be more concerned about 'another' hostile neighbour.
What would it take for Iran to side more closely with Pakistan/China and distance itself from India?

Why should Iran be closer to any side to begin with? We have excellent relations with China, we have good relations with India and we have had good relations with Pakistan, except some ups and downs. The thing is, Pakistanis can't take it that Iran can also have good relations with India, we should only declare war on India so that some people are pleased. What would it take for Iran to side more closely with Pakistan/China and distance itself from India?
"....world’s second largest Shiite Muslim community"
Is there any proof that Pakistan is home to second largest shia community?

We won't take any sides, and the same way we don't ask Pakistan to cut relations with Saudis (and we have been hit a lot by Saudi-Pak realtions and the virus that Saudis injected into Pakistan), we won't listen to Pakistan on how we should have relations with India, and vice versa, India can't dictate us how we should treat Pakistan. You are the one who always says interests matter first, right?
We can have excellent relations with all three countries at the same time and except some minor obstacles, we don't have substantial problems with either of countries.
The funny thing is, Pakistan's Arab allies have bigger and better realtions and trade with India, but why blame them? They are Arab 'brothers' after all, they are holy, only Iran is the devil here.

issue statement against Pakistan joining
Issued statement against it? That's strong worded, can you provide a proof? Or did he just say Iran has its reservations about this alliance and Pakistan joining it? It means Iran neither approves nor rejects this.

Maybe a reporter asked him to express his opinion about Pakistan joining the alliance? He has every right to say Iran neither approves nor rejects it.what reservation means? who is he to publically express reservations?
Good to hear that! Beijing is in fact very nervous about increasing tension between Iran and Saudi, given China has significant if not the most vested interests in the region, not to mention those busy maritime trade routes passing through the Arabian Sea. Take Iran as an example, Chinese vested interests in the country already far exceeds that of EU for quite some years, across a wide range of sectors from infrastructure, energy to manufacturing. Why should Iran be closer to any side to begin with?
