There is a very big pilot shortage. Almost to the point that now aviation cadets are being forcefully sent to fly fast jets whereas a number want to do transports.....
They want to do transports?? Then what was the point of getting commissioned, should have joined any airline.....or this could exactly be the the idea 💡....fly transports, accumulate flying hours, and then join Emirates.....

yes spot on , do you think any one actually cares for any thing at the moment , its all about self and career , lower staff learning from their seniors quickly .

Some are better transport pilots than mediocre fighter pilots. And vice versa.

No big deal run a few large courses until u overcome the shortage...make a short n long term plan to over come it...if they start now then in about a decade they would see the results of it.....should have been done long ago....
Its not due to the lack of ppl not applying to join PAF as a GDP....hundreds of thousands apply for every course n thousands are recommended by issb n 100s clear the medical n in the final selection u just select a 100 or so......bc faal nikaltal hain.....they have more then then enough ppl who make the grade....all that is needed is increase the capacity to train without compromising on the standards.
A purana SM from 3cdo I met yesterday n he was telling me that his daughter has made the grade n has cleared the final medical n in the final list to be selected for the PAF as a GDP but has not received the final letter as yet.
They need to get off their high horse n run a few large corners to over come the shortage like PA did

Part of it is also the appeal, or rather lack therefore for flying second gen aircraft like F-7s and Mirages that are older then the kids parents.
The sooner JF-17s replace the remaining antiques, the easier it will be to get quality candidates.

Add Papistan (Land of Panjab And Pakhtoon) factor too in this. (Sorry don't like to say that and it's being sound raciest but saying this because seen these things personally).

Agreed, After 10 years PAF will be 4th and above generation only so training needs to be evolved.

Aditional J10 will come definitely, figure would be arounf 60-72.Then we already in progress with 5th Generation.

TFX, J20-and J-35 either one will join in next 5 years

Final figure will be around 90
I'm uncertain when we will be able to increase the number beyond 36 as of today. The requirment consists of 100, with 10 for CCS and the remaining 90 for 5 full squadrons. If the Pakistani economy continues to grow, these 100 will be in place within the next 3-4 years since the current capacity of China to produce these jets is limited to 18-20 per year. I believe that once the Chinese airforce orders are fulfilled, the entire capacity will be available.
