LOS ANGELES: Pakistan has closed three US military intelligence liaison centers in Quetta and Peshawar, a US newspaper reported.

The liaison centers, also known as intelligence fusion cells, in Quetta and Peshawar are the main conduits for the United States to share satellite imagery, target data and other intelligence with Pakistani ground forces conducting operations against militants, including Taliban fighters who slip into Afghanistan.

US special operations units have relied on the three facilities, two in Peshawar and one in Quetta, to help coordinate operations on both sides of the border, senior US officials said. The U.S. units are now being withdrawn from all three sites, the officials said, and the centers are being shut down.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the steps are permanent. The closures, which have not been publicly announced, remove US advisors from the front lines of the war against militant groups.

The decision has not affected the CIA's ability to launch missiles from drone aircraft in northwest Pakistan.

This is why hillery is in Pakistan. I believe she'll be able to convince Mr. Ten Percent to cooperate but I'm not sure if she can convince the PA.

Even the President will be cautious before bowing down to the US.
First, the WikiLeaks disclosed him asking for FTA with the US to stay in power.

Then the incident in Abbotabad occured with contradictory statements from government institutions.

Followed by the growing resentment against one-sided Pak-US affair. One dictates, the other says: "Sar aankhon par"

PML-N on PPP's tail will make it hard for the government to make anti-Pakistan decisions anytime soon.

Our GCC "friends" have also started distancing themselves from the 'Friends of Democratic Pakistan' sham. Trying to sell the notion of a democratic Pakistan is not working anymore, with more people questioning feudal dominance with the democratic parties.

They should rather be called CIA terrorism cells collaborating with local militants to destabilize Pakistan.

and someone thinks the same as me :)

Anyone here believes that US will shut down their surveillance of Quetta ans Peshawar???? Over or covert??

If they do, they are living in fool's paradise.. The moment, US is shunned from monitoring (by improbable growth of Balls by GOP), they will start hitting hard in ways people have not even considered...

wasn't this suppose to be helpful to Pakistani forces fighting FATA and elsewhere since Pakistan doesn't have any satellite surveillance/monitoring capability ..or is it more than just a intelligence fusion cells as it says ...

does china provide satellite surveillance to Pakistan ...??

Pakistan should not allow any foreign country's intelligency agency to be roaming around the country, especially an intelligence agency from a country that is worried about Pakistan's nukes, and is close allies with Israel and India (the two countries who tried to destroy Pakistan's nuclear program).
