In letter to police, Ganga Ram Hospital confirms death of Zulfiqar Ahmed
ISI operative Zulfiqar Ahmed, who the Pakistan Army website said had attained martyrdom in Delhi while on a suicide attack operation, died at the Ganga Ram Hospital on November 16, 2007. He was admitted to the hospital by a doctor of the Pakistan High Commission and his body was claimed by the same doctor. This has been confirmed by the hospital.
Dr R K Ganjoo, Medical Director of Ganga Ram Hospital, has sent a letter to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police along with hospital reports in which he has said that a Pakistan High Commission doctor admitted him and claimed his body.
According to the letter, Ahmed was brought to the hospital on November 1, 2007 because he had nephrotic syndrome and died there on November 16. During this period, hospital doctors carried out 56 investigations, three ECGs, 18 chest X-rays, one ultrasound and one echo test on Ahmed. The name of the Pakistani mission doctor, who brought Ahmed there and later claimed his body, is not mentioned the entry in the column on the form simply says high commission doctor.
Sources said Ganjoos letter, attached to 328 pages of hospital records, details of doctors visits, ECG reports, test reports and bills, was sent to the Delhi Police on December 15 by the hospital.
The Delhi Police will be listing these details in its report to the Home Ministry on the case of Zulfiqar Ahmed since the Pakistan Army had claimed on its website that he died while on a suicide mission this was first reported by The Indian Express. After the Express report, the website deleted his name.
