Railways Minister Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad says Quetta-Taftan section and its up-gradation are imperative for Pak-Iran relations.

He was talking to Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost, who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Both sides agreed on mutual cooperation in Railways. It was also decided to constitute a technical committee of the two countries to resolve issues pertaining to railways.

ISLAMABAD: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Hoonardost called on Minister for Railways Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad here on Tuesday.

The Ambassador stressed upon importance of Quetta –Taftan section.

The Minister totally agreed with the ambassador.

"Quetta-Taftan section is very imperative for relation between Pakistan and Iran", said Rasheed.

The Minister further added that up gradation of this section is also essential.

Both sides agreed on mutual cooperation in railways.

For resolving railways issues between two countries a technical committee will be constituted.

During meeting Farrukh Taimur Ghilzai, Secretary Railway Board, M. Yusuf, DG Planning and Munawar Shah, DG Technical were also present.

When are we going to updated our train system. We bought old trains from China. We need to work with Japan, South Korea or other countries to build/upgrade our railways infrastructure.

Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Mian Farrukh Habib said that a modern railway system was being introduced in the country as railways was the backbone of the national economy.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Nov, 2018 ) :Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Mian Farrukh Habib said that a modern railway system was being introduced in the country as railways was the backbone of the national economy.

He said railway was a strategic asset and steps were needed to improve its working.

The parliamentary secretary said, "Modern facilities like WI-Fi complimentary newspaper, drinking water, tea, lunch /dinner and public address system have been introduced in these trains," ptv news reported.

Replying to a question he said, visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China would bring positive results.

During the visit, the prime minister focused on railway and agriculture sectors, he highlighted.

He said China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) would start a new journey of development in the country includingBalochistan.

Farukh Habib said government took adequate steps to mitigate concerns of people of Balochistan.

I dream when I can take a Istanbul YHT train direct to Islamabad probably wont happen in another 30-45 years

You Better Go sight seeing before all the noisy Tourists arrive.

By the way how hard is to get an Iranian visa for a Pakistani American assuming you are one.

I know i wont be getting an Iranian visa in this lifetime.

Its already getting Tourists mainly from Europe and Canada my Iranian buds tell me that still small but growing plus tourism in nearby Turkey and Georgia is growing fast and then Iran is next my plan is a road trip to Pakistan via Iran from Europe I hope do this in a year or so when I have enough budget to do so.Its easier I heard to get a Iranian visa if you have a Pakistani Passport but I heard if you a American Pakistani or Muslim its easier with a US Passport
