Paise wapsi: Agra farmer earns Rs 490 for 19 ton potatoes, sends money to PM Modi
Angry at the government’s indifference towards farmers and disappointed over the little money he made after selling 19 tonnes of his produce, Sharma sent all of his earning to PM Modi through a money order.

Angry over earning Rs 1064 from 750 kg onion, Nashik farmer sends money to PM Modi

Speaking to Indiatoday.in, Pradeep Sharma said that he meant no disrespect to the prime minister, but he should think about the plight of the farmers. He further said that his earning of Rs 490 is just a reminder to PM Modi to do what he had been elected for.

Sharma claimed that he has written several letters to PM Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind to be allowed to commit suicide. He even met the Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and requested the help of the government and the administration in increasing his profit margins. But, he said, every effort failed.

Farmers, who spend Rs 700-800 per quintal of potato, are getting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 549 per quintal, which does not even cover the cost of growing the crop.

Pradeep Sharma said that this was the reason why farmers are avoiding going to government purchase centres to sell their crops.

According to the available records at the UP Horticulture Department, more than 2.5 lakh farmers cultivate 2.8 lakh hectares of land in Agra district. Out of which, 70,000 hectares of land is used for cultivating potatoes.

Shyam Singh, a farmer from Shamshabad area, said that unless the government ensures that the farmers get back at least 150 per cent of their expenditures in growing the crop, there was no sense in selling the crop to the government.

and here we are buying @ 40 to 80 rupees per kg :pakistan: I am happy for our Farmers because they are earning handsome amount compare to other side of the border.

Great to protect our farmers ... otherwise this unhygienic and cheap product ruin both the health of our people and the farmer so the unhealthy shit should never be allowed in Pakistan.

100% agreed sir and i would like to extend it to bollyshit cheap content because it is so dangerous for our youngsters. First bollyshit destroyed indian youths and now it is targeting the younger people in Pakistan. As proof we already witnessed some crappy incident in big cities of Pakistan
