Hi,
Now add 3 MI 35 gunships to the equation instead of the cobra---and a sentry observation plane flying overhead----the MI 35's dropping troops for the ground sweep and gunships giving cover from overhead.

You can still install an FLIR on these "vintage" cobras and they will do the job just fine.
Mate, no fun. Find some video where we can all enjoy Talibitches dying like dogs, specially some Uzbeks and their local collaborators, the Mehsuds. I'd love to see them all fried on video!![]()

Our cobra's don't FLIR systems installed?
Cobra pilots did their best. Technology became their main hurdle. An HMDS would have saved precious time they took in turning the helicopter and aligning their line of fire plus the time to detect bogies visually and make sense of where fire is coming from
FLIR is already installed on it
Its not just about having a FLAIR sensor. Its about the avionics, tracking software, data link, situation awareness that matters. There two cobras hanging out there, had it been two Apaches these rats wouldn't have been able to hide from its optical and radar sensors.
Also Mi-28 firing some missiles over their asses!Hi,

Some of the comments on LL were saying that the gunships were trying to bait the Uzbeks into firing and exposing their location.
Don't worry boys keep the talibuties running and you shall have more mi-28 made in India with love delivered.

It seemed more like briefed planed task than a search and destroy mission. Probably paving the way for infantry. They are right. Also the cobra was giving them directions. Like the last barrage thats fired on the puddle. That was the pilots way of saying dont go there.
Then what role they have, if not killing these talibunies? If the cobra had fired some missiles, they would have been dead.Mi-28s are not suited for this kind of role.
