It shows that Saudi Arabia and Malaysia brooks no nonsense over Bangladeshis entering their countries for possibly work!

Enterprising people nonetheless since they want a better life than what they can think they will ever get in Bangladesh, if indeed they get!

I wonder why?

From the remarks of BD posters, they give the impression that BD is a vibrant economic giant!

4 Bangladeshi expats jailed for murder bid in London

London

Four Bangladeshi men have been jailed for carrying out a violent and premeditated attack on a religious studies teacher because they did not approve of his teaching.

Akmol Hussain, 26, Azad Hussein, 26, Simon Alam, 19, and Sheikh Mohammed Meraj Rashid, 27, attacked the victim, Gary Smith, when he was on his way to work on July 12 last year. They were sentenced in Snaresbrook Crown Court in London last May 26.

They struck Gary Smith as he reached the railway arches on Burdett Road in Tower Hamlets, using a knife, a brick and a metal rod as weapons, kicked and hit him repeatedly in the stomach, on head and in face.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that Smith was cut from his ear to his mouth during the attack, leaving a permanent scar, and suffered a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain and a broken jaw.

I am posting this because I am a bit intrigued that the religious teacher's name is Gary Smith!

I know that you are being sarcastic but to explain.......

BD is a vibrant economy now, as economy is now motoring at 7% GDP growth a year, but it is still one of the poorest countries in the world. GDP/capita is only around 5% of that of that of a European country like France.

I guess it will take at least another 20 years or so before Bangladeshis no longer see any need to leave their country for greener pastures abroad. It will be a long, difficult journey but I am very confident that it happen.

Yes, BD is a vibrant economy.

I am not being sarcastic.

Most of the expatriates are the son of poor farmer. This worked magic for us. In one way it is bringing us money and in another way it is making them to get introduced with the civilization. Its quite opposite to India where they are sending millions of middle class educated people to ME. You wont find any of that kind from BD going to ME or Malaysia. We have enough opportunity already created within this country for that kind. So yeas, its a vibrant economy.

Tell you one thing, these people paid more than 2 lac to go to Malaysia and some paid more than 4 lac to go to Saudi Arabia. With that kind of money in offing, some bad apple did exploited the system and took them to those countries with no Jobs. Eventually they became illegal.

Bangladeshi govt is working to curtail this kind of illicit practice and hopefully they will find a way to work with those country so that the people dont get exploited.

While skilled people are going from India to foreign nations, there is also a huge numbers of unskilled or semi skilled labour going to the Middle East. They are most Moplahs of Kerala.

Oh yes, in India, there is these fraud agencies who send out chaps abroad by taking huge amounts of money. They are all illegals. In Punjabi it is called kabutarbaji.

In Malaysia, I found Bangladeshi in semi skilled labour class.

There was this Bangladeshi chap in front of a Lebanese Food Joint, whose duty was to hustle people walking to come into the restaurant.

I was shocked to find that there was a concession being given on Saturday as there would be a Cabaret! I asked the chap (I didn't know he was a Bangladeshi till then) how come in a Muslim country and in a Muslim restaurant there would be a cabaret!

The man was sharp. He made out that I was a Bengali and in his Bangladeshi accent of Bengali, he let loose about Malaysia not being a good Islamic country and pointed out Malay girls opposite in short skirts with a tudung and said, that is Muslim of Malaysia for you! What actually he said cannot be reproduced in the forum.

I had a good laugh.

On the bright side considering that around 5 to 10 mil bangladeshi expat abroad, the crime rate is quite low among bangladeshis

Most of the expats have gone to make a living and possibly not indulge in crime. :)

The organised crime has still not hit the markets or so it appears!
