Over 40 Percent of Amazon's Sellers Are Based in China

If you're not buying direct from Amazon, chances are you're dealing with a Chinese merchant regardless of which regional Amazon website you shop with.

It's now expected that many of the products we buy carry a "Made in China" tag, but the extent to which China forms a part of our shopping experience is much greater. We only need to look at Amazon's sellers to see how much more.

As Marketplace Pulse reports, the latest business information data released by Amazon's different regional websites reveals that an average of 40 percent or more of sellers are based in China. That's based on data collected from the top 10,000 sellers and is a huge increase from the 26 percent seen just two years ago.

The conclusion has been reached using data collected from Amazon in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. However, it likely holds true for Amazon in the US as well, even though seller information for that region is anonymous. As Amazon's US operation is by far the largest marketplace, it will by default attract the most international sellers.

Reviewing the new sellers that joined Amazon last year, it looks as though the number of China-based sellers is only set to grow. In the UK alone, 40 percent of new sellers joining Amazon were in China. For comparison, new UK-based sellers only came in third with 11.6 percent.

Amazon has made it very easy for sellers to ship their goods to customers regardless of where they purchase from thanks to the Fulfillment by Amazonservice. With Amazon handling product storage near customers, delivery of those products, and customers services for them, you can be a seller anywhere in the world and still function as if you're local to each customer.

That is too less...I was under impression that more than 85% that are sold in Amazon are from China..
You may think of the manufacturerers, not the sellers, many foreign sellers are actually also selling Chinese products, but here the report is about sellers.

That’s why when it says it won’t ship same day/overnight and takes 2 weeks you know where it must come from. You simply find the same product through another seller.

China manufacturing is supporting the whole world, try to live without them.

We did up until the 1970's...and we ended up polluting our countries...better to let you guys take the hit instead.

This is China..but it could have been a US river in the 1970's.

this is what one of the dirtiest rivers in the US in the 1970's looks like today.

We are simply a few stages of enlightenment ahead of you.
