North East India: Opposed to foreign investments in disputed areas in India's North East: China
3-4 minutes
BEIJING: China today said it is opposed to any foreign investments including that from Japan in the 'disputed areas' in India's North East region and is against any third party's involvement in resolving its border disputes with India.

Reacting to Japan's plans to step up investments in the northeastern states during Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to India, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told the media that China is opposed to any foreign investment in the 'disputed areas'.

"You also mentioned Act East policy. You must be clear that the boundary of India and China border area has not been totally delimited. We have disputes on the eastern section of the boundary," she said.

"We are now trying to seek a solution through negotiations that is acceptable to both sides. Under such circumstances, various parties should respect such aspects and any third party should not be involved in our efforts to resolve the disputes," she said.

China claims Arunachal Pradesh as southern Tibet.

Hua said there was no mention of China anywhere in the India-Japan joint statement nor she has seen any "innuendoes" referred to Beijing as stated by the media.

"To be frank we are also closely following the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to India. I read the joint statement carefully but I have not found the statement mentioned the term China at all," she said.

About the references to Indo-Pacific, which included

South China Sea
in the joint statement and calls for the countries to resolve the disputes peacefully, she said the statement mentioned disputes to be resolved through dialogue.

"We know that to resolve the disputes the directly concerned parties have to uphold the rights to freedom of navigation, over flights entitled to countries under international law. This is China's position," she said.

In indirect reference to Japan, she said, "We also hope various parties can uphold the rights to freedom of navigation of over flights by countries in various waters."

China and Japan have dispute over the uninhabited islands called Senkakus by Japan and Diaoyu islands by China in the East China Sea where naval ships of both the countries aggressively patrol the waters around the islands.

About the connectivity projects, and implicit criticism of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Hua said, "I haven't seen any innuendoes. I have not seen that".

Hua hoped that close ties between India and Japan is conducive to the regional peace and stability.

"I should also add that the India and Japan are important countries in Asia. We hope the normal development of the relationship can be conducive to regional, peace and development and play a constructive role in this process," she said.

China says it is opposed to foreign investments in India’s North East

Arunachal Pradesh has not been mentioned, the north-east has. Even a cursory glance at the map will show that the Chinese reaction is paranoid.

who is charge of China's foreign policy??
Who so ever is, he/ she is doing wonderful job in humiliating China and letting all it's neighbours know how to deal with it by learning from India.
..difficult days ahead for China..

u are no pakistan who can saber rattle at u knowing u can't do much. u seem 2 be adopting that attitude with china thinking u will get away with it. fact is that if china decided 2 teach u a lesson it will be an everlasting humiliation 4 u. and certainly no other country will step in 2 fight with u against china. at most u will get military aid from usa and israel. at worst, china will open a 2 front war with u and arm and aid pakistan 2 keep u busy 4 a very long time. if india knows whats good 4 it ..it will pacify china instead of aggravating it

..till China develops balls...it is a humiliation to China and it's cheergirl ..Pakistan..
..let both of us and whole world enjoy the humiliation..China has earned ..so desperately..

So we need China's permission to do construction inside of our country?
In Chinese perception during the Dolkam escalation India got to decide if Chinese could build roads in its own territory.

So they believe they are entitled to the same rights regardless of the fact they are capable or not of ensuring it ;)

tangent boy...I am certainly the last person who will cheer china. in all the chest thumping posts by your indian brothers and sisters on this forum against china on doklum issue, I mocked the chinese and gave credit 2 the indian army 4 standing firm. my post was a dose of reality. with your growing economy competing against the chinese economy u r in no position 2 adopt a pakistan type mentality against the chinese. whether pakistanis cheer 4 china or timbaktu is irrelevant. it is your country's position which is being analysed here

We also love the way you are looking for shelter in North Korea...
Kim is the fig leaf that you all are left with..
China taking refuge in North Korea..

Believe me , it was not for mocking, but to show reality to many Chinese here who are trying to justify their retreat as they did after being beaten by Vietnam in 1979.

chinese have their own agenda. stay focused on yours. my point is that the indians should reassure the chinese that japanese investments will not infringe on chinese concerns regarding disputed areas which must in my view be resolved asap 2 ensure that your economy continues with growth. economical development by india and china will hopefully bring regional stability 2 the area since u desis r so religion obsessed

Not just India, no nation on this planet can afford current Pakistani mentality. Military interference in foreign policy and civilian affairs is always recipe for disaster.
