Status quo achieves nothing. Only lasting solution to Kashmir would be to reunite it as an independent state. The situation in Kashmir is similar to post WWII Germany, when Germans were divided by the Berlin wall just as Kashmiris are divided by the LoC, while each part was controlled by a foreign power just as India and Pakistan control halves of Kashmir. The 'solution' has to be Kashmiri lead, Kashmiri thought and Kashmir implemented.

Let us assume that an independent kashmir is formed. Would Pakistan then renegotiate the IWT? SInce the J&K govt has always maintained that IWT has done injustice to kashmiris.

good thoughts... but can any country in this world can guarantee that kashmir will never become an afghanistan of 1990s?? kashmir is a state where india is providing more funds in budget seasons than any other state in india. without this financial support how kashmir can feed their people?? can anyone give a guarantee that the law and order will be maintained by kashmir which is already the most corrupt state india?? the concept of ""Kashmiri lead, Kashmiri thought and Kashmir implemented"" will be a mission impossible.. an unstable state like kashmir will become a terrorist's own country if india and pakistan give independence to kashmir.. so lets stop thinking about giving independence to kashmir...
