Vietnam coast guards tracking the movement of HYSY 981 on its way to Indian Ocean.
--------------------
China's first self-designed and built deep-water semi-submersible drilling rig HYSY 981 is undergoing final checks and maintenance before setting off to the Indian Ocean for its first overseas assignment.
The drilling rig, adopted world's most advanced underwater anti-gushing system, and the mouth of well may automatically close in case of accident so as to avoid polluting the marine environment.
"Our anti-gushing device will automatically close and seal the well if the fluid electrical signals are lost to prevent the spilling of oil that pollutes the marine environment," said Lai Xuanchao, manager of the rig.
The drilling rig also has intelligent positioning system.
"This is our radar system, through which we can see surrounding ships. It can tell us no matter when we are working or navigating if there are ships around. This is our electronic sea chart to show the entire region. It can show the depth of water," said Lai.
According to Xie Yuhong, director of western South China Sea oil administration under the China National Offshore Oil Cooperation, efficient exploitation will ensure natural gas supply for downstream enterprises.
"Our 30 years of exploration and exploitation in the South China Sea prove that this area is rich in natural gas. We are to use pipe networks to connect those gas fields and ship the gas to downstream enterprises in need. By doing so, we can ensure efficient exploitation of small, medium-sized and large gas fields. The economic development will also provide a stable supply of natural gas for the downstream enterprises," said Xie.
