But then why not get oil from an easier source? Instead of pi$$ing of the west and getting oil a hard way?

How will the gold transported to Iran?

Most likely through Ships or Via Land through UAE

India imports 35 Billion USD worth of Gold each yr
I am Pretty sure we can get additional 12 Billion Tons of Gold and ask the seller to send it to Chabar Port instead of Mumbai or Vizag

They should have thought of some other option.

As I said its strictly business..business for us and you. You were saying about the 5000 year old friendship, but not so long ago you threatened to stop our oil supply until we find a way to pay you. As for easier source, I think India is working on deals with KSA.

Dude India imports more than 1000 Tons of Gold a yr
I am pretty sure our refiners can purchase the additional 350 Tons of Gold for the 12 Billion USD AND THEN SELL IT to Iran for oil instead of Making Payments in Dollar , Euro , Yen or Lira

Then with due respect we should have shifted the suppliers - not for the sake of Western sanctions but for the sake of our Gold reserves.

Just give to the captain of the oil tanker.Its like old times, he will unload crates of gold in Iran and return with tank full of oil.

Then will the Navy provide security to the ship over high seas. Most probably.

Its good that our relationship with Saudi is going strong.. But Iran has its own place in India's foreign policy and that is not solely dependent on Oil...

Absolutely agree..but the problem is its India's burden to find a way to pay Iran and after all the talk of friendship you are not going to accept INR or Indian Goods.

In the article it says that 12% of India's oil is from Iran, I think earlier it was 20%

I was saying wrt International Politics..There is no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests.
