2) COMPILE DOWNLOADED MAPS
Here's a Video Tutorial of How to install the maps to your Symbian S60 Mobile.... Almost the same steps applies for all other mobiles....

OR

For written description follow steps here
Once you download all files then Create a Folder "MGMapsCache" and extract the files into it as shown in Picture Below.
Dont forget to copy cache.conf file in MGMapsCache folder otherwise maps will not work...
Note: You can Delete any zoom level that you dont want, lets say you dont need Google road maps of Pakistan at zoom level 16 then just delete the folder "GoogleMap_16" but if you want to delete Hybrid Mode, lets say Zoom Level 13, then you have to delete both folders "GoogleHyb_13" and "GoogleSat_13"
3) COPY TO MOBILE MEMORY CARD OR MASS MEMORY:
Now connect your mobile to PC through USB using "USB Mass Storage mode".. This is true for Nokia and Blackberry. But dont know for others... OR you can just pull out your Memory card from your Mobile and insert in Card reader.
Now copy compiled MGMapsCache folder to ROOT DIRECTORY of your memory card. See Picture Below
memorycardview.jpg

Note: Do not use bluetooth for transferring maps as It will take a hell of time. Even when copying with USB Mass storage mode or Card reader, Maps might take very long to transfer depending on how many levels you copied.. sometimes 2-3 hours.. so don't panic..
B) MOBILE STEPS:

WRITTEN STEPS For SYMBIAN S60v3 , S60v5 and Symbian^3 Phones (MGMaps)
d) DOWNLOAD THE MGMAPS APPLICATION:
1) Download MGMaps for Mobile:
a) For Symbian devices S60 5th Edition and Symbian^3 (click here)
b) For Symbian S60 3rd Edition, works on most N- and E-Series (click here). You can visit site below for different versions for S60 3rd Edition.
http://wap.mgmaps.com/ OR http://www.mgmaps.com/download.php

Note :
1.You should prefer downloading the Development version 1.42 .. If 1.42 is not available for your model e.g with Blackberry then download the Stable version 1.39
2. Following Steps are for Symbian S60 5th Edition and Symbian^3 but these steps are common in symbian s60 3rd Edition. 3. For S60 3rd Edition, install the Signed jad online version if its Asking several times of Allow to Read Map data)
1) Install the mgmaps-1_42_01.jar or .jar installation file of your mobile in your mobile memory card you will see the icon as below.. Open it ..
scr000018p.jpg

2) When asked 2 questions about GPS Positioning and open cache.. click "Allow for this session" but for INTERNET USAGE CLICK NO..

3) You will see empty screen, Click MENU >>SETTINGS>> MAPS>>STORED MAPS..

4) Tick Mark Stored Maps and Offline Mode and Click SAVE... Path will be by default to E:/MGMapsCache OR you can change to F:/MGMapsCache ( if ur phone has memory card and mass memory both but u copied MGMapsCache folder to MemoryCard)... (For Black Berry you might see "SD CARD/MGMapsCache"...if not there then give this path)...when asked to restart MGMaps, Select Yes.. Now Exit MGMaps...

5) Start MGMaps Again..and follow Allow for this session and No for internet usage as in step 2..Now click MENU>>MAPS>>MAP TYPES

UNTICK ALL Maps except for Google Maps, Google Hybrid and Google Satellite.. (see pic below).. then click OPTIONS>>>SAVE.... and BACK...

6) Now Click on "Map" a shown in Picture to change Map type... By default it is set to Yahoo Maps so change it to Google Maps or Google Hybrid...(or which ever u downloaded)

7) You will start seeing Yahoo Maps but now you can change between Maps by Clicking "Map type Button"...(see Pic)

8) Now Go out in Open space and wait for the GPS to receive satellite signals.. If you have a single storied home then it might work even inside home but if you have double storied or more then you should Go out in open space....
Wait for at-least 5 mins... Normally take 2-3 mins to lock on a satellite..
Once it locks on a satellite, the Red Satellite indicator icon will turn GREEN (see in Pic) this will tell u that GPS is online.... and a Blue colored balloon will appear that shows ur location..

9) Mark that location as you favorite so that you don't get lost in Maps while browsing....that can be done in MENU>>FAVORITES..

10) If you want to see 'Speed and Location Coordinates', then Click MENU>>SETTINGS>>MAP >>OVERLAYS...Preferably Choose settings that I have..in picture below..when done.. Click Save..OK

But it will only show Coordinates and Speed values when your GPS is locked on to a satellite..

12) By default the Maps are not set to move with your GPS Position. If you want your maps to move with ur location then Click MENU >> GPS >> SETUP >> MOBILE TRACKING....Tick Move Map... and change Refresh (sec) to 1 ... Click SAVE when done..
Note:The Lower is the refresh rate, the better it will tell u speed and position but will consume battery more...

How to get Directions ?
Ans: I will write tutorial soon...

B) STEPS for ANDROID Phones: (MyTrails)
The First half is the same as described above i.e to copy MGMapsCache Folder to root folder of memory card with cache.conf file inside it.then,

1) Download the Application called MyTrails from Android Market using your Phone.
Here is the link to it
MyTrails (Android) - Download
OR
Use QR-scanner to get download link directly on your Mobile

chartn.png

OR Download APK file HERE directly to your computer and install it manually.

2) Once Installed, then Run MyTrail Application on your Mobile and then Follow the screenshots provided.

Step 1: Open MyTrails & Select "Preferences".

Step 2: Open "Map Manager"

Step 3: Select "Add"

Step 4: Touch "MGM Cache Package" & Hit "Select" (This is because your cache files are called MGM cache files, if you remember the files you pasted earlier in root directory of your phone)
step45.png

Step 5: Select the Location of those MGM cache files, and hit "Select". You can also rename that package if necessary.

Thats it... start using on your Android Phone...

Note: MyTrails is not offering Directions now but will provide directions in upcoming version 1.2... you can check that HERE... so wait for a short time.... but you have to allow it to connect to wifi or GPRS to get directions which is hardly 5-10kb of data but the good thing is that it wont cost you GPRS charges for Map images...

C) STEPS for BlackBerry Phones: (MGMaps)
The First half is the same as described above i.e to copy MGMapsCache Folder to root folder of memory card with cache.conf file inside it.

Then, Download and Install MGMaps on your Mobile by either of the two ways below:

(a) Download to PC: Download application file from below and Install to your PC using Desktop Manager.
i) For BB OS 4.1 and 4.0: Downoad version v1.39.17 from HERE
ii) For BB OS 4.2 and above: Download Version v1.39.21 HERE
OR
(b) Download Online: Open the web browser on your smart phone.
Then navigate to Mobile GMaps and click on the version that is appropriate for your phone. Click on ".jar" files according to your OS version.

Your phone will then follow some sort of process to verify that you want to install an application. The Blackberry asks if you want to give it Trusted Application status.Click YES.

2) Then you run MGMaps on your mobile phone. On the Blackberry, it creates an icon (as seen in Pic below) that can be seen on the Applications page,(in this case the one below the film reel.icon)
Click this icon to start MGMaps. The first time, it may ask for permission to access the internet and your SD card storage. Click YES

3) You then need to bring up the MENU.. Press the Space bar to bring up the menu tree.
Then select Settings as in Pic below. (The actual path depends on which version of MGMaps you are using)

4) Select Settings>>Map>>Stored Maps.Click on the two boxes labelled Stored Maps and Offline Mode and TICK mark them. (as shown in Pic below)
This menu is where you also give the path to maps copied in memory card. Give the path SDCard/Blackberry/MGMapsCache. (Sometimes its only SDCard/MGMapsCache. Try the other way if first didnt work)
You can Click Browse to select the location where you copied the maps, then SAVE it.

After saving Click the Back key to go to the previous screen.

5) Open Menu>> Settings >> Map Types. Selected ALL three types of Google Maps and REMOVE TICK from Yahoo Maps, rather all other maps. You can rotate through different map types by pressing a shortcut key, the Zero key on the Blackberry.

6) Now go to Menu>> GPS>> GPS Settings and Tick mark Internal GPS

7) Now Open Menu >> GPS >>Mobile Tracking.
Tick Mark (as in pic below)
a)Show Marker
b)Move Maps and Move at Startup (if you want the map follows me as you move) and.

There are other options under Display. See what works best for you. Tick mark Show Arrow if you like to know which direction are you moving.

Now you can click Back to go out of the menus (roll trackball left for version 1.41).
Now go out in open space and wait for the Satellite to Lock on your mobile. Once it Locks the Satellite Indicator on top of screen will turn green. ( wait atleast 5 mins)

Red Arrow head with ball marked in center will show your current Position.

and in the End... TADA !!!
Enjoy Offline Maps with FREE Navigation without having to use internet...

wow... you are clever my friend. but you lack knowledge of the fact that OVI maps are not available for Pakistan..

Nokia has the second highest sales in Pakistan globally and they didnt bother to make OVI maps for us..

Whether I am clever or not is a different matter, but you surely lack some manners.
