Dalai Lama is not demanding independence for Tibet. But he does not want Tibetans to be oppressed by CCP. The communist dictaturship knows that if Tibetans have human rights, the Han Chinese will feel they can also have human rights. This is why Chinese human rights activists like Liu Xiaobo Hu Jia etc support Dalai Lama.
But most Chinese are too brainwashed to understand.

It is unlikely the chinese are brainwashed. they have much higher literacy levels than india pakistan and other neighbours. Perhaps its the fact that because they have such high literacy levals their people know when someone is talking crap

Your Westerns are just want to use Dalai Lama and Tibet as your political card to put a pressure toward China to prevent her growing. Tibet in fact is a part of China since long time ago, people over there are nice to the Han Chinese and they have been living peacefully to each others for decades until your Wests step in and stirring up the conflict. The C.I.A. trained mobs and monks arouse local Tibetans standing up against the Chinese and China government; they rope, rape, torture and kill many innocent people in Tibet including the peaceful Tibetans who don't want to joint them, the riots. The bloody incidents in China these days caused by these evil factors. Besides the Indian, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Canadian, British, Australian, Japanese and Vietnamese have been offering many donations to the riots, also they have been transferring many suspicious intelligences to the rebels, they coach extreme Tibetans how to fight with the government; how to not to be arrested and how to scatter fake propaganda outside China. All of that causes China to bloody conflicts day after day, the World has been misunderstood the China government and being upset toward Chinese.
