India's UNSC bid a difficult issue: Obama - Rediff.com India News

There will be big-ticket items on the agenda with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ], Obama said while speaking on his upcoming visit to India.

A series of announcements are expected to be made during the visit, said Obama

He added that according to him, India was the cornerstone of America's engagement in Asia.

Speaking on the Nuclear Liability Act, which has faced considerable opposition in India, Obama said the US has concerns over it and the governments of the two countries are working together to resolve them.

Speaking on the contentious issue of outsourcing, Obama said India should give US companies the same access to their markets that the US gives (to other nations).

Evading a direct reply to US curbs on dual-use technology exports to India and India's quest for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, Obama said these issues are 'very difficult and complicated'.

Obama, who is going to stay at the Taj Mahal hotel [ Images ] in Mumbai, which was one of the targets of the 26/11 attacks, said, "Pakistan has a special responsibility to bring the perpetrators of Mumbai terror attacks [ Images ] to justice transparently, fully, and urgently."

The US President also hailed the Indian prime minister, saying, "Manmohan Singh is one of the most extraordinary leaders I have met".

He added, "I support India's rise as a global power".

Wow, all these statements and not one single sentence of consequence. Just a bunch of empty diplobabble.

All heads of state happen to be doing this to butter us up, but honestly after all the intense negotiations in tech-transfer agreements , nuke-liability bill, SC reform and other issues the guy must have realized we dont fall for empty rhetoric anymore but concrete actions . Maybe he took a lesson or two from Cameroon but as it is "namastays and garlands arn't gotta cut it this time "

either he concedes some key points ( handing over david headley would be a good start , after that we can talk about unrestricted military & civilian tech transfer ,removal of ISRO & DRDO from restricted lists etc :) ) ....or we continue to depend on our ties to Iran ,Russia and increase our partnership with China .....;)

As an Asimov fan, these diplomatic speeches always remind me of the Foundation stories.

Hacky Linux: Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" - The Encyclopedists

Salvor Hardin submitted a copy of the ultimatim to Muller Holk in thethe Division of Logic for analysis using symbolic logic to clear away the deadwood which clutters human speech. It boils down to, "You give up what we want in a week, or we take it by force." The Board of Trustees reluctantly agrees. Hardin also submitted a copy of the treaty, signed by Lord Dorwin, and it boiled down to: "Obligations of Anacreon to the Empire: None! Powers of the Empire over Anacreon: None!" And Pirenne agrees to this as well.

Finally, Hardin took the liberty of recording Lord Dorwin's words and submitting the transcript to Muller Holk as well, despite the gross breach of hospitality. After two days of steady work, all the goo and dribble cancelled out. Holk found he had nothing left. "Lord Dorwin, gentlemen, in five days of discussion didn't say one damned thing, and said it so you never noticed. There are the assurances you had from your precious Empire."

@Developereo: fictional worlds in Novels are a bit different from the "real world".....Here the U.S empire might often mean what they say....witness Afghanistan and Iraq .....

How ??? we want the exact details beforehand :lol::lol:

Headly was a American Spy who perpuated Mumbai self-made attacks and US used him to create a war like situation between India and Pakistan, US almost succeeded in it.

Pakistan wants Headley as his connections with Indian RAW and American spy agencies. Headly is thought to be a double to triple agent and frankly, a nuisance.

These are just few formal and political words. There no benefits of all these crap words.Just some lollypop for indian journalists. If US wants, can make it happen. But in practical their hands r tied. Have higher priority works.

And pray tell me in what capacity and what grounds is Daud Gilani wanted by Pakistan? Please highlight some of the terrorist activities that the man has committed against the state of Pakistan or its national interests. Mention some of the court verdicts by your supreme court and military intelligence statements where Gilani has been charged for inciting terrorism against Pakistan as a country. Unless and until there are formal charges against him in world view, he will only be suspected as your man.

US spy, I am beginning to think since the level of puppy love FBI is doling out for him. However, the terrorist attacks against India that he's attempted and is involved in could have been his personal ulterior motive as a way of showing his hatred for us and therefore used US resources for personal agenda.

Right now, if at all that man is wanted most anywhere, it is India and US should hand him over to us.
