Agree... Delhi has become a shit-hole... given a chance I would like to move my family to a south Indian city like Hyderabad ...

Hyderabad in the future is a bad idea given its under Telangana now.

The writer is right about Delhi, but wrong about other parts India. Agreed most of North India is indeed is a shit hole. He should vist South Indian cities ( Bangalore, Hyderabad, Trivendrum, Kochin, Mangalore and Goa). Even foreign tourists praise cities like Mangalore, Bangalore

Bangalore is a pale shadow of the city it used to be 15 years ago.. It was the garden city with beautiful weather..But sadly it also is becoming the same dusty chaotic unplanned dump like any major Indian city.. But still i reckon Bangalore is livable than others

I have realized most Indians think building skyscapers every where with concrete and glass edifices constitutes a great city.. It does not.. Great cities need sustainable development old along with the new, Architecture that is relevant and unique to the region it's weather etc.. Making New Delhi or Bombay another NYC is not feasible.. Concrete and glass retain heat and dissipates it when the atmosphere gets milder and is suitable for colder climes.. Ever wonder why Indian cities are getting unbearably hot over the years ? The density does not help matters either nor does pockets of suburbs with the mega rich gated communities while 90% of the rest live in squalid conditions

One does not need to look far to developed nations for this Islamabad and Colombo are prime examples how Capital cities or for that matter ant city need to be developed and sustained in relatively clean healthy environments

Agree.. Chandigrah is a new city but then so is New Delhi.. I mean old Delhi is eons old but New Delhi was planned built with infrastructure and gift wrapped given to you by the Brits, But 70 years down the line it has become the worst capital city, So you cant pass the blame to the Brits all the time for the short comings

not disagreeing with the typical issues Delhi faces like many other big cities of the world but it only invites flame and heart burn. I edited the title too, I wont call a city that housed millions of people for centuries as a shithole
