I've always wondered what happens to the fish in case of an undearsea test.

Find out by watching the documentary Trinity and Beyond.

The area (the lagoon) in operation crossroads is still contaminated to this day.

I think this pic explains it all:

Crossroads_Radioactive_Puffy_Surgeon_Fish.jpg

Contamination of Bikini Lagoon by the Baker shot of Operation Crossroads, Bikini Atoll, July 25, 1946. A radioactive puffy surgeon fish takes its own x-ray. Brightest area is the gullet filled with fresh algae. The rest of the body has absorbed and distributed enough fission product radioactivity to make the entire fish radioactive. The fish was alive and apparently healthy when caught.

Thanks, I've gone from being a child to a man thinking what happened to the fish in the blast! I'll make a point to see that documentary iA.
