NSG trains commandos to handle hostage crisis situations in jungles

No intelligence gathering is state subject in naxal area. Intelligence gathering needs money but Central govt dont want to pay any money in that head.

It is the SP of that city who provides us with intel as he has enormous funds and resouces (especially mobile surveillance) at his disposal.

IPS who head paramilitary and one who are City SP would never want CRPF develop its own intelligence wing otherwise a lot of unwanted strings especially their political bosses who are hand in gloves with naxals would get revealed.

Recently CRPF intelligence wing disclosed fact about talks between Bihar agricultural minister and naxal for support in elections in exchange of offer of removing CRPF from that area.

If CRPF is given just one month it will solve all naxal problem. But nexus is too big to let this happen. Enormous amount of money about Rs 4000 crore is taken as ransom and levy by naxals every year by mines and other establishments and this money is distributed throughout the corrupt spectrum.

And CRPF soilders are being sent their as bait and they are actually an eye wash for society that govt is trying to control naxals.

By the naxals have 10 times better intelligence netwrk than SFs. They immediately kill anybody who they doubt as mole. And pay handsomely those who provide intell to them.

Every village in naxal area have Gram dalam( village groups) whose job is to ensure the spread of naxals propaganda and provide them intel.

Every time we pass near a village. Naxal supporters start cutting wood with axe. They hit axe in systematic rhythm which alerts all naxals in nearby area. Sound of these axe could be heard from 2.5 km.

Other method are they press neck of chickens to make a shrill sound. They start beating electric pole with metal rod. They also use sankh made of cow horns to produce sounds.

Also they have moles in local police in almost all P.S. Recently a Chhattisgarh police constable was arrested for providing intel to naxals in which 11 CRPF soldiers were martyred.

our new gov. seems to have more efficient than UPA. does the change in gov have any effect in anti maoist operations??

Mate, you are making the situation sound very dismal.

If this is indeed the state of affairs, how does the CRPF plan to tackle the issue? I mean, what can you do practically to end the naxal menace? Since the CRPF won't be given a free hand, and intel is not upto you, and there are moles in the state police forces, and they even have political patronage - realistically is there a chance for the CRPF to put an end to this, or will the situation go on and on like this? If you do see it ending, what time frame would you give for that?

Until the political-Naxal nexus is addressed it will NEVER be obliterated.

Modi better do something about this...

That's not really something Modi can do. It cannot be done top down, it can only be done from the bottom up. Most of those politicians are state or even district level fellows. It's the state govts that have to do something about it. But then since extortion money keeps the local political party machinery running, it is unlikely that they would do anything about it.

I don't agree- charge the CBI and IB with looking into it, empower them to go after any politician regardless of level, this IS something the central govt can do.

COBRAs are already doing jungle warfare against the Maoists. The NSG, I presume, will be used only for commando raids and hostage rescue. Although the COBRAs are named "commando battalion...", I'm not sure if they fit the classic definition of commandos.

Yeah, drop them in like with Colombian forces.

Situation is not that not dismal! Naxals have been almost wiped out from 12 states and now naxals have significant presence in only 2 states, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. They use other states as a place of rest after crossing the interstates border as there are still significant number of naxal sympathisers in tribal areas.

We are going more and more inside the jungles. Almost half of Abujhmad jungle have CRPF companies now which was said to be virgin territory and no Indian govt officials had seen that area ever before. Not even Survey of India which is responsible for making maps of India.

Now what CRPF is doing it clears the highly infested area and then further move deep inside the jungles and create locations there. Right in the heart of naxal zone. And it really irks naxal and they take CRPF presence as challenge in their so called liberated zone and therefore keep attacking CRPF.

And naxal menace is almost silent now but it has not ended. Being hit badly they are now just trying to survive the blow and regain feet with time.

But I am sure this armed naxal movement has no more life after 2016.

But it is sad our politicians instead of showing foresight and start development in the regions plays with fire .unfortunately if it continues , region's which has been cleared will again flare up and we will be running in circle's

Well not very different than previous one. No politician is motivated to take any action untill their interest are hurt.

Mate i think these are the pictures of the Junglas, the Colombian counterpart of the COBRA.They are simply bad a$$es being trained by the U.S. and Israeli Special Forces.Plus they have got top notch arms and equipment to support their mission including the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk modified to provide C.A.S. in case of heavy enemy presence.I think what our COBRA needs is something in the line of the UH-60 Black hawk helicopter which can provide insertion/extraction and will also provide fire support in case of a full blooded engagement.
