ISLAMABAD: Prominent lawyer and ruling party leader Barrister Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has been appointed counsel for Prime Minister Gilani in Contempt of Court case, Geo News reported.

He will appear along with the prime minister in the Supreme Court on January 19.

Big mistake, Aitezaz would have been an acceptable Acting PM to all parties. Now when he plays this overt role in protecting PPP interests in support of the NRO, he will lose all credibility.

I bet he has been forced to do so, nevertheless a smart move by cunning Zardari.

That would be evident in his spirited (or lack of) defence for NRO.

Yes and by doing so they may be planing to create turmoil during transfer of power after/before elections, i.e. what other suitable candidate they will announce as acting PM? All parties will have hard time agreeing on, hence delaying the whole process.

This is sort of do or die situation for Aitazaz, either he will loose his hard earned creditably and popularity or emerge as man with b@lls of steel. I have a hunch it may be the latter.

the case is not presided by Iftikhat Ch. so Aitzaz can appear, and secondly he would accompany PM, in which he will defend the allegations, and tell the court that the government is willing to write to swiss court, before March which may time bared the swiss cases due to non responsiveness.
