I wonder if there are any serving or ex-soldiers on here who could explain the physics of using an automatic rifle one-handed like a movie/TV cowboy's 6 shooter. as far as I know even a pistol needs two hands to be of any real use!

I think that SL withdrew after seeing that photograph of the soldier, or may be due to what happened on February 26 & 27.

This is just Mr. Rajapaksa literally trying to stay relavent through this series of events. That said a crack team of NSG has been deployed in Tamil Nadu and it was in news 2 days back I think. That is not for SL. Rather the NSG is investigating to find and alleged link between Sri-Lanka NTJ, and TNTJ and some places in Kerala. These are a standby for their assistance, just in case.

Yes, you can shoot any typical infantry type rifle one-handed. But do not count on any precision and accuracy even in semi. This nonsense happens only in movies.
