What do you guys think of the N11 countries? Will they become as predicted?

Here is the list (in no particular order)

Mexico, Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Turkey, and Nigeria.

They are predicted to be after BRIC the largest economies worldwide.

never understood why SK is included, they are already developed and is now considered rich that means without substantial technological advancement their economy will not grow as fast as the others and since their size is not very large the total economy is not very large. but of course no one lives up to their full potential so i guess alot of moderately sized nations are simply predicted to mess up.

That right, South Korea does not in the group.

I heard about The CIVETS (Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey and South Africa).

It's interesting, in that Iran is included as a newly industrialized country (NIC) on this list ... but if you see the entry for NIC in Wiki, Iran is not included:

Philippines does not deserve to be on NIC list. It is clear why they are there.

Countries like Nigeria and Bangladesh should not be on that list. Nigeria is terribly backward, all they have is a large population, and oil. Bangladesh only has the large population ...

Well you can look at the IMF's classification of NIC in their world economic outlook (WEO) data base

Bangladesh is not blessed like you with oil. Still we are growing 7%....... In 2050 it will be in top 20 economy..... bangladesh and vietnam are similar almost.

I guess the figures for Pakistan are tooo much conservative in my view
2 trillion size can be acheived by Pakistan within a decade or two with continous efforts just see IMF gold man etc.. have pridicted in 2005 or 06 tht Pakistan will get a GDP of 2000 billion in 2020 or something but just see Pakistan acheived 200 plus status in 2011 and now the GDP is more than 200 billion$ soo with 6% average growth for atleast a decade Pakistan can do miracles....

In general, it is difficult to guess when the world's economy is in crisis.

In difficulties, my country have a new opportunity to reform the economy. We are implementing "Renovation" once again, which we had done since 1986 and had gotten some success.

We are receiving help from Japan to reform the economy. Although Japan is also difficult but they have more experience.

Iran is not blessed like your country with so much rain, fertile soil, and a delta region ideal for agriculture. Imagine if you had the same population in an arid land ?

It seems most of BD's industrial exports are garments, and if there is high growth it might be because they are starting at low levels. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is my understanding.

I checked a few things about the basic industrial infrastructure of BD and it does not look good per capita:
Steel Production: 25,000 tons (minuscule) Bangladesh Raw Steel Production by Year (Thousand metric tons) (Iran: 12 million tons)
Cement Production: 5 million tons Bangladesh Hydraulic Cement Production by Year (Thousand metric tons) (Iran: 75 million tons)
Electricity Production: 26 MWh (Iran: 213 MWh)

So, Iran is not just about oil production.

Bangladesh is not blessed like you with oil. Still we are growing 7%....... In 2050 it will be in top 20 economy..... bangladesh and vietnam are similar almost.

No, I disagree. Vietnam is a different success story. Those guys work harder and have better leaders. Bangladeshis have no commitment to see their country develop. Among our people, I don't see any desire to overthrow the dynasties and give a serious thought about the future. It's always about "losing Islamic identity" or "BNP vs AL" or "blame it all on India".
