I never said that this is an "EW suite" being fitted on the LCA. I said that this was PV-1 being modified for an EW role!

Wouldn't you need a bigger platform for a EW role?

Whats the Real Purpose of Making Tejas as a Platform, are we setting up any Tejas Electronic Attack Squadron's?
no, sir currently air force doesnt have dedicated EW squadrons. post 2000 some aircraft in in each squadron have been modified with ELTA and local BEL/ECIL pods to give them dedicated limited EW capability.
pilots from all squadrons carry out EW practice in Gwalior once a year or in exercises to keep themselves abreast of latest techniques.
I would not have questioned if the same were done on MIg 27's or Mig 29's or Su 30's But The Tejas is a Very Confined Platform to be used for such roles or Missions, Iam not learned than our Scientists so lets Assume they know what they are doing....

Sir, I think its mainly testbed, so there is no better platform than Tejas.
SU-30 : None available. Costly.
Mig-27 : Old aircraft.
Mig-29 : Unknown configuration, old aircraft.
Teajs: Very much known aircraft, modern, have much room for modifications.

sorry mate, u got it lil wrong here.
both Su-30 and mig 27 have been modifed for EW role. even jaguars, mirages, canberras have been performing limited EW role.
the fact is each fighter can be modified to perform an EW role. however, the operator needs to make a wise assessment of configerations and limitations which will be imposed during modifications.
agreed sir
tejas is an indian designed aircraft. no license or any strings. we can do anything whatever you wish. we can use it as testbed for any other experiment and can play with it.
You didn't got what I meant. Every aircraft can carry EW pods like SU-30MKI, Mig-27 and even LCA but dedicated EW platform is another thing. Its not just mounting some pods.
