col ajai shukla posted a quiz in his blog about tejas pv1.

now, he says that Tejas pv1 is being modified for EW role.

he writes......

SO HERE IS THE CORRECT ANSWER: THIS AIRCRAFT --- PV1 --- IS BEING MODIFIED FOR THE ELECTRONIC WARFARE ROLE.

OLD SOLDIERS DO NOT DIE. THEY JUST START RADIATING...!

He also said

I never said that this is an "EW suite" being fitted on the LCA. I said that this was PV-1 being modified for an EW role!

I can't tell you too much about what is actually going into the fighter. The details will have to remain classified for now.

Sounds interesting. :pop:

Indian version of Growler ??!!??

dear karthik sri (SIR),

i am a rookie pilot in discussion forums ;), i may be worng, but don't you think Growler is nearly a heavy class aircraft and tejas is merely a light weigth.

fixing all electronic warfare instruments in growler is different thing from fixing in light weight tejas.

I don't think that Tejas=Growler, now or ever. But Tejas can be a "diet" Growler. That is definitely in the realm of both probability and possibility.
Seems like Lt. Col. Ajai Shukla has been doing some "inspired" thinking. ;)
But he knows what he seems to be talking about unlike that overgrown juvenile who runs that over-hyperated blog.

Mate I know that. What I meant by Indian version of Growler is that they will share similar roles (EW specific fighters) in their respective Airforces and I did not mean to compare the capability. I must be outta my senses to keep them both on a similar plane.

Thats interesting. They are modifying PV-1 for EW role. Mayawi?!! Also the stand is unusually longer compared to Tejas nosecone/radome.

Actually the Growler is for USN/USMC as it is based on the F/A-18F for replacing the EA-6B Prowler. The USAF use the EF-111A Raven but with this soon being phased out the USAF has said it will seek to provide electronic warfare officers to fly on US Navy Growlers, without providing funding to purchase additional aircraft until a suitable replacement is found.
