What is the purpose of raising a new squadron and transferring old birds to it?? Why wasn't a new J-10 squadron raised instead??

How many mirages will be in this new squardon?

We know that soon pakistan will have two j10squardons

Also another 2 jf17 squardon by end of this year

This mean f7sPG and mirages 3 for sure will go within this year (as air superiority role will be taken over by j10s)

Leading to only 4 squardons for mirages5/e

A long tradition... Whenever a new aircraft is procured, it goes to the parent squadron of the present CAS... In this case, 15 squadron.

One thought is that you stand up an additional squadron with older aircraft, once new ones (be they JF-17s or J-10s) are available, retire the old ones and re-equip. In this way you have the manpower, support, logistics required for raising a squadron already in place. The only thing new is the re-equipping part. Since we don't have sufficient new JF-17s available for another squadron, consolidating surviving Mirages and eventually phasing them out via this new Sqn makes sense.

Mirages are still the fastest aircraft in PAF inventory and unique considering their SOW capability.

The induction of F-16s into was a turning point in PAF's capabilities, yet the Fghting Falcons went to the old units.

Remember it were these old dedicated Mirages that caused earthquakes around Indian military targets in IOK by the 1000Kg H-4 weapons delivered by Mirages on 27.2. 19.
