Muslim girl sent home from school, told skirt is ‘too long’

Forcing prepubscent girls to cover up is abuse of authority.

If the school is wrong, so are her fresh off the boat parents for shrouding her in a tent.
I hope you will remain true to your words if one of your female family members want to go out wearing such clothes in Karachi.

Hmmm. My female members aren't my property.

I'd worry for their safety but the ultimate decision lies with them. They have the good sense not to do so in a place like Pakistan either ways. But they do abroad. And I'm no one to stop them.

Small minds won't be able to comprehend. So no worries.

Good then. At least you are not a hypocrite like other LKLs

Where are feminists when you need them the most
people in my school got in trouble for wearing skirts or shorts that where too short. Nobody got sent home for a dress code violation. I've neverheard of anyone getting told off for wearing a skirt that is too long.

their also going to fine her parents for unauthorized absence
Well I think it will be interesting as what defines the correct length of a skirt. As far as I am aware there is no definition of skirt length for school uniform and teachers decide on their own. I think the school is on a sticky wicket. Beside in the UK girls can wear trousers ? So I don't know why the skirt is an issue.

UK is better in this regard than continental Europe. Muslims are well integrated, influential and don’t accept discrimination. My cousins wife in UK works in a bank with headscarf on, never had any issues or complained. You even see Muslim women working as immigration officers with headscarf on.

In almost all workplaces with a uniform, a headscarf is offered as an option.

A long time ago, two women at my workplace were sent home by the manager for wearing skirts that, at the time, were considered too short.

Also, a while back a school headmistress banned skirts at her school because the girls were cutting them down to be too short.
