Muslim Brotherhood seeks India help for polls in Egypt

My last post on the topic, I will start with this; do you guys really believe that the West and the jews will want the Egyptian Gov to be headed by the Brotherhood. The answer to that is No! And of which they have already made it clear to every one. Now with india extending any help to them, yeah............. Like the GOI will want to piss off the americans. Have fun ladies.

They opted to overlook other countries and seeking Indian help to restore democracy in their country after 30 years, isn't it enough?

Well then if you as an indian is so worried about them suffering due to dictatorship then why did your county had any relations with them then. Let me guess money talks.

And FYI, still it is and will remain a wishful thinking. Indian democracy, you gota be sh!tting me. Dude even your own people are not yet convinced of the idea. And before you do it I will say it my self yes my own country is not perfect.

And what is your opinion based on, can you please tell me. How many egyptians have you ever come across and where.

My Uncle owns his own shop in Arkadia Mall in Cairo and he is there in cairo from past 6 years...! He himself tell us everytime that egyptian people have a very positive impact of India there and they always say Al-Hind(i don't know what this means) if any Indian meet any egyptian on street and they love bollywood movies very much..:D...An me myself have many egytpian frnds online and they also have very positive impression for India...!

What you want then, declare war on their soil to remove Mabarak from the rule? Would that have improved our relationship?

Good to know that, movies and happy happy aside. The reason I had asked that was because I get to deal with loads of them at work daily, and they as a country dont trust any one. Atleast not any one to the east of their border, and with the brotherhood asking the indians for help. For what I have read of them, I really doubt that they will ever go ask any non Muslim country for help or assistance. (no insult intended)

Another Pharaoh in the making this time in the shape of muslim leader. Its not a revolution its merely another stage of NEW WORLD ORDER.

The last time i checked, India is not their neighbor and where from religion comes into the scene? How many democracy implementing muslim country you can name?

@Aslan: I can corroborate the positive impression of India in Egypt. I was based in Cairo for a period of nearly 11 months in 2004-05. I talked to many Egyptians during that trip and later, many Egyptian colleagues visited India too (Bangalore). Infact, most people in Cairo know a lot more about India, than Indians know about Egypt. Many smaller Egyptian towns (like Tanta, Asyut etc) were running Bajaj autorickshaws and Kirloskar pumps everywhere.

On a side note, Pakistan also had a very favorable impression, based on Pakistan's capabilities and it's ability to punch way above it's weight. And China was also mentioned every other day in the newspapers as a model of development and growth.

However, these are dated views but not much as changed with regards to impressions of India, based on talks with my Egyptians friends.

Dude if you dont know where the religion comes into the debate of Muslim brotherhood then you dont know what you are talking about.

Hind is the Ancient Perso-Arabic name for India derived from River Indus.

Hindi refers to Indian in Arabic.

Its thanks to the NAM policy of Nehru and Indira Gandhi that we still continue to have lot of good will among the Palestinans and Egyptians. Gamal Abdel Nasser is still remembered fondly in Egypt and had very close relations with India's Nehru and Indonesia's Sukarno where these like minded leaders wanted to be independant of joining either the American or the Soviet camp.

This is unlike the GCC states, Pakistan Turkey e.t.c. who solidly aligned with the US againt USSR.

Interestingly India's relations with Eygpt suffered and were on their lowest ebb under Mubarak as Mubarak established his client dictatorship with close relationship to the US.

After Mubarak, anyone who comes in power would be a net positive for India from Mubarak days. And even if Muslim brotherhood does come in power, India would have no problems personally with it.

Iran is currently under a quasi-theocratic dispensation and it was the BJP led NDA that actually signed a security co-operation agreement with Iran back in 2003.

How can a political party not even in Government, (Egypt under military rule) request a foreign country for help with their elections? How do they even have the sole authority to make that decision? There must be laws against this. If Egypt the country wants Hindustan's help with setting up election the Egyptian military and especially Defense Minister whose in charge should authorize it not a political party in Egypt that was banned for decades and only recently returned.

What kind of sense is this? Is Muslim brotherhood the authority on Egyptian elections?

Dude if you dont know where the religion comes into the debate of Muslim brotherhood then you dont know what you are talking about.

I think India is just helping them conducting election to restore democracy, we are not going to influence any political parties or citizens to serve our needs. They just want us to guide them in conducting a corruption free polls, and asking for our help is just a sign of goodwill from their side and should not be mixed with regional politics.
If they don't need our help in first place then why are they even asking us for the same?

@Aslan: Well, what you say is actually true. Even if the elite in Cairo feel that India has a good but chaotic system, they are suspicious of any external power meddling in their affairs. The elite in Cairo look mostly westwards for inspiration and in fact look down a bit on the people to the east (Not in a bad way, it's like westernized people in India/Pakistan). The Muslim brotherhood however has most of their support base in the villages and smaller towns, and they are anti-west. They will mostly look for support from Islamic nations. (Again, this is the impression I got from my talks with Egyptians and may not be the same on the ground).

However, India has the experience of holding elections on a massive scale and in troubled areas. Maybe, this is the expertise that Egyptians want in these times.

Read the post above yours and you will have your answer.

Thank you for your post, and your points about the brotherhood are very valid as well. The only issue is that their ideologies are in direct conflict with the west and the western countries will try their best to keep the brotherhood away from the pools. Now with the help from the indian authorities, the brothers cant decide for any ones help, they can ask. But they cant make a change. And even the indian gov will be reluctant to come to their aid/help due to their closeness to the israelies, and the americans.
