What the govt did wrong was not closing the roads like we see here in USA/Canada

Once we were in that area in the month of June, Patriata to be exact, height of summer, the situation was none better, we just don't like to stand in a que or form a single lane......spend all day there but when it's time to leave, everyone wants to get in the front....thus morons driving in the opposite lanes and thus blocking the traffic going the other way. In the end, everything grinded to halt, no one could move either way.
Eventually some military police arrived and things started to move after being stranded for over an hour.

Tragic. Agreed these people should not have attempted travel under these condition. People and governments in warm climates not use to extreme cold and snowy conditions, will be devastated by its consequences since they are not familiar and unprepared. Even developed countries struggle with this.....Texas had rolling black outs and many deaths early in 2021 for similar reasons.

One thing I like about Sheikh Rashid is that he is always very active in any situation. He was first to reach at 3am and then 9 am again. .Even I disagree his use of religion in politics, but he is very active even crosses the likes of Shahbaz sharif. No wonder people vote for him in his constituency and selected him 9 times minister.
I really hate hotels management of murree, they charged 50,000 Rs for one room, even charged separate for extra mattress. They earn extra from pain of people.

Its 98% people's own fault. 2% for administration. Police were asking people to turn around and go away since several days due to over crowding and bad weather ahead. No one listened. People were fighting with police to let them go. No one has snow tyres, no one has chains, no one has basic understanding of dos & donts in the snow. Still they want to be macho men and go with little kids and ladies! Excellent plan! What can go wrong?

Carbon monoxide poisoning. Several such deaths take place every year in stuck cars in USA/Canada and other colder parts of the world. Often the car skids into a ditch. Then people leave it on because they need heater. But if the exhaust is buried under the snow, the fumes start travelling inside the cabin. Since carbon monoxide has no smell, people can feel drowsy and die within 20mins!

Bhai government had appointed police like 1 week ago who were begging people to turn around and leave. but people were causing rush and fighting, refusing to leave! Awam he jahil a, government ko rotay hen. There were snow clearing trucks too, but ineffective in such a storm + where cars are stuck all around them, they need space to clear snow. Mehrans and Altos and bolans with their pesky little econo tyres jo k already hard ota a. Dry men b grip nai krta, snow men kya karega? Winters tyres im sure no one even imports in Pakistan. Because Pakistanis think dunya tou pagal a? Hum to "smart" hen, hum nikal len gy gari! Lou.. nikal lou! Several cars fall down the cliff edge every year because once the start sliding they can't stop.

CO is the main culprit here. Plus lack of proper clothing as well. Gari tabi chorty jb properly dressed hoty. Water proof shoes ka b koi concept nai hen yahan. People dont know u cant walk in snow with a normal show without loosing ur fingers or whole feet! Temperature was -8. but im sure feels like must be lower.

All relief camps have been provided with heating arrangements. Heavy machinery from murree, army engineers Division & FWO are working without any rest to assist stranded people. Where machinery can’t reach, troops have been moved & clearing traffic & opening roads.

Make them pay for govt. guest house stays. make them pay for each and every penny spent on their rescue. Otherwise they will not learn. 1500-2000 Ki chain ki bachat k pechay, 15-20 hazar ki inki rescue ki jaegi ab, awam k tax k peson py? Yani maan na mehman, meri jahalat teri mehman!

It's a free country, government should not regulate everything. People should use their brains and google safety tips about traveling in cold weather before risking their and their family's lives. Any normal passenger vehicle (with engine and heating turned off) works as a deep freezer and can kill the occupants if they are not properly dressed for extreme cold weather. Pakistani's keep proving time and again how dumb they are whether it is stealing petrol from a tipped over fuel tanker or running to their deaths in extreme cold. I feel sorry for the innocent kids who were ignorantly killed by their idiot parents by subjecting them to extreme cold.

How many of them even knew they need snow tires or they will get stuck? and everyone knows Murree is a hill station with narrow roads and almost no flat surfaces to push aside stranded cars. one gets stuck everyone behind them gets stuck, add snow, some wind and you are in for the misery served by cold. These fluffy snowflakes are not as harmless as they look. Cold weather kills faster than hot weather and it's extremely painful.

How hard is it to develop a system to that only lets people in if they have a valid booking or a residence during peak seasons?
