In whole world Militarizes are involved in business too first you are not fighting all the time secondly most of the time Defence Budget is not enough
Have you ever tried to setup a large factory aka private enterprise in Pakistan?
Just curious.
I am talking about organised businessEach nation has its own way of doing things & given the primacy of the army in Pak its not surprising that they can ride rough shod of any or all objections.
I was just curious to know the background of the Okara incident which the author at post No 1 has highlighted.
Could anyone post links to the case or share inputs on it.
There is a difference between a unit run canteen and organised business - both in intent & turnover.
I am talking about organised business

Looking at chinese private enterprises , Huwaei is established by Ex-Chinese General and it's one of the largest corporations in world now . Despite ill intentions of generals, they are efficient in running their corporations.
Like this civil contractor company
Kingcrete Builders (Private) Limited
Though there were rumours of a certain Lt.Gen Amjad Shoaib, Malik Riaz and this kingcrete company business nexus, earning commissions on road projects, construction projects
But we know Malik Riaz delivers. Frontier works delivers but after taking their cuts
Yes I have.............................. I'm an entrepreneur, and I breathe business................... I have worked in almost every country and every sector (from crude / precious metals / cement to things as mundane is chicken feed) (minus) Pakistan................ the only stake I have in Pakistan is agricultural land, and loads of it...............
Before you go ahead and ask me if I had any problems from the military, no I didn't........ because it's my business how to grease palms, and to know top-dogs........... I, however, stayed away from all of it, as it's corrupt to the core............. not just the men in khakis, but also the bureaucrats and the politicians................ nothing here is conducive to "big" business..................
Again, before you ask me comparatively who's more corrupt? I'd say the people I mentioned before.............
socialist beliefs are antithesis to privately held big business.
And most of the educated elite in Pakistan hold socialist beliefs as near and dear to their hearts.
hence it is very hard to establish and then run big businesses.
very hard but not impossible.
Pakistani elites have perfected the art of socializing losses and privatizing profits.
Who cares if the deliver? They'd suffocate the next "Bashir Gates" of Pakistan.......... dude, I know all............ and I'm well aware that you know what I know!![]()

Tru Dat.
I heard the same thing in my last trip to USA.
How Obama gov is doing exact same thing (and so did the prev admn)
Yes, but here the people will take care of such imbalances at the next election, or when they truly get upset by it. For example, deducting SS from all income rather than the first 100k (approx) and making the SS payments means-tested would be two big steps that will likely happen. Taxes are also going to go up. Similar other steps will rebalance the Gini coefficient for a while, until the pendulum swings the other way again.
There, the status quo will go on, no matter who is in power.
If IK and Qadri doesn't derail the system, the same thing will happen here too. Albeit a little slower.
Keep faith
my friend Have faith.
I have full faith in what I say, including the fact that even if IK or Qadri were to be in power, nothing substantive will change.
