Breaking protocol, in a first, Xi met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a sprawling government guest house in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, from which the president's family hails.

The visit to the central Chinese city marks the first time Xi has hosted a visiting foreign leader in his ancestral home, a conscious display of hospitality underscoring his intention to build a strong personal relationship with Modi.

Amid heavy security, large crowds turned out to greet his motorcade, prompting the prime minister to tweet: "Am very glad to see the enthusiasm among the people of China. People-to-people ties are always special."

Both President Xi and PM Modi attended a spectacular cultural program with traditional Chinese and Indian dances. A treat for the eyes. Here it is..... Enjoy!

Hope this meeting leads to regional peace.
Hypothetically speaking, if India, China and Pakistan can get together there would not only be lasting peace but it would be a world force to reckon with!

I think we need to lay top most priority to solve our disputes. It can be done but vested interests are so deeply entrenched in out societies that it would need a herculean effort to achieve peace, cooperation and economic progress. It would be a win-win situation for the Asian region. It's time to shed the baggage of the past and think of peace and economic progress for our future generations.

That is correct. The disputes need to be given utmost priority. Just as you said that bringing peace to the region will usher in a great era, not bringing peace will lead to the exact opposite.

Idolatry, lol! :cheesy:

That's one thing that won't give Modi a culture shock at least, there are Buddha statues all over the place.
one thing i forgot to mention, how come he is allowed to touch the terracotta relics? no one , i mean no one should come near these relics except the experts .

He should learn to say "Amituofo", which is a common mantra of Chinese Buddhists.

It means "Amitabha Buddha" (Buddha of Infinite Light).

Chinese Buddhists also go "Om" a lot as well. Like: Ommmm...

we all are so divided and west will never allow such friendship. They do not want asia united. Even if we make peace with in it is not hard to make us fight again. Just one Mumbai like terror attack funded by West done by pakistani nationalists ( Or opposite of it ) will lead us to another war like scene.

We have so much hate for each other that our friendship will be soo fragile

its probably not a big deal, a poke or two isnt going to ruin it, this isnt an ancient book or something fragile like that and any finger oil/dirt can be taken care of by a simple wipe after he leaves.
