On topic, Netaji founded the political party Forward Bloc.

Here's something from recent times :

At least 2,000 supporters of All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) and a few dozen State and local level leaders joined the BJP on Sunday. While the leaders listed a series of grievances against the leadership for leaving the party, the local and district level leaders underscored political violence. Many said that they left AIFB as the senior leaders failed to “provide any protection.”

The BJP state president, Rahul Sinha, and the general secretary (Bengal), Ashim Sarkar, handed over party’s flag to the leaders and welcomed them. Many of the AIFB leaders targeted party’s State secretary Ashok Ghosh (91) for holding the top position for decades. “I respect him, but is it reasonable to remain in the highest position for ages,” asked one of the former State Secretariat members, Subhasish Dutta.

Incidentally, Mr Ghosh recently got a mention in the Limca Book of Records for serving “the longest term at the helm of the party in a State.” The Records Committee said that Mr Ghosh was elected as the secretary of the party a year after Independence, in 1948 and “since then re-elected to the post 15 times (in 66 years), without a break, the latest being in February, 2013.”

Perhaps, Sunday’s exodus was another record in Mr Ghosh’s political life, as he had perhaps never seen so many supporters leaving the party en bloc.

Children, women and men from various districts of Bengal joined the BJP on Sunday. They came predominantly from Dakshin (south) Dinajpur, Medinipur, Malda, North 24 Paraganas and Kolkata. The supporters were led by AIFB’s former State secretariat members and youth wing (Yuva League) leaders, Ajay Agnihotri and Anirban Chowdhury.

Members of the party’s women’s wing and State secretariat, Bithika Mandal, Sashi Agnihotri and Asma Khatun also left the left-coalition to join the BJP. They took their turns to lambast the 75-year-old party.

“I read in a newspaper that the highest leadership has said we are rotten fruits, spoiled by insects. The leadership forgot that when a tree rots, the fruits naturally get spoiled,” said Bithica Mandal.

On Friday, party’s general secretary Debabrata Biswas had told The Hindu that sooner the “rotten fruits disappear it is better” (for AIFB), alluding at the dissidents who decided to join the BJP.

Some of the erstwhile AIFB members were seemingly emotional while explaining why they had to leave a Left coalition to join a right-wing party.

“We (AIFB) are a nationalist party joining another nationalist party (BJP)…we both believe in the ideas and ideologies of Netaji. But while BJP respects Netaji, AIFB’s senior leaders are using Netaji to do business,” said Ms Mandal.

Addressing the new-comers and his party colleagues, State BJP president Rahul Sinha said the AIFB supporters “liberated” themselves.

Have you seen the movie Kala Paani? Mohanlal was the star in it .... if you get time do watch it. It's shows what desperation does to people.
Wasn't desperation on the part of Japanese. Training and concept of racial superiority. They believed in dying than getting captured. So POW were considered to be subhuman from their point of view. The reason Japanese atrocities doesn't get as much limelight as Nazis is because they were committed on underdeveloped, irrelevant poor little Asian countries.

Want more horror stories , read about ship matsui maru .

That would be netaji convening with and being in bed cannibal Japanese back then while gandhi had dandi march and non aligned movement and went to jails for protest regularly . Gandhi was no saint but was far better than netaji .
If Gandhi was better than the revolutionaries. I guess we should stop praising Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru because they differed from Gandhi's way.

For Japanese it wasn't desperation, probably amusement:
Japanese ate Indian PoWs, used them as live targets in WWII
But the most spine-chilling of all Japanese atrocities was their practice of cannibalism. One of the first to level charges of cannibalism against the Japanese was Jemadar Abdul Latif of 4/9 Jat Regiment of the Indian Army, a VCO who was rescued by the Australians at Sepik Bay in 1945. He alleged that not just Indian PoWs but even locals in New Guinea were killed and eaten by the Japanese. "At the village of Suaid, a Japanese medical officer periodically visited the Indian compound and selected each time the healthiest men. These men were taken away ostensibly for carrying out duties, but they never reappeared," the Melbourne correspondent of The Times, London, cabled this version of Jemadar Latif on November 5, 1946.

Latif's charges were buttressed by Captain R U Pirzai and Subedar Dr Gurcharan Singh. "Of 300 men who went to Wewak with me, only 50 got out. Nineteen were eaten. A Jap doctor —Lieutenant Tumisa, formed a party of three or four men and would send an Indian outside the camp for something. The Japs immediately would kill him and eat the flesh from his body. The liver, muscles from the buttocks, thighs, legs, and arms would be cut off and cooked," Captain Pirzai told Australian daily The Courier-Mail in a report dated August 25, 1945.

Then there were more similar testimonies by PoWs interned in other camps, such as Havildar Changdi Ram and Lance Naik Hatam Ali, who also gave details of cannibalism practised in their camps. John Baptist Crasta of the Royal Indian Army Service Corps, also a PoW at Rabaul, wrote in his memoir (Eaten by the Japanese: The Memoir of an Unknown Indian Prisoner of War) about Japanese eating Indian soldiers. He was made part of the Allied investigation into Japanese war crimes later.

Yes I agree the Japanese atrocities weren't brought to light as the Nazis because it might have something to do with the nuclear blasts on the Japanese main land. They should have been brought to the limelight.

Bhagat singh , sukhdev and Rajguru were not convening with Cannibals of Indians . Try a better straw man net time .

The Brits were not very kind to Indians too, were they? By your logic Gandhiji was convening with "Killers of Indians" when he asked Indians to fight for Brits?

Try a better straw man next time. :)

The biggest cry for Independence not came from congress or Gandhi and his politics but from this man.

"Tum mujhe khoon do, Main tumhe azadi doonga"

"Give me blood, I'll give you freedom"

Not very confusing.

Yes killers not cannibals . Plus there is record of Gandhi going to jail many times by the hands of british while nothing similar in case of netaji and japs .

Gandhi wasn't better than all revolutionaries. Each had his place. He was special cause his ways appealed to majority - the poor and the religious. But he was above Bose, for Bose cared naught for the means to achieve his goals.

It seems the fact that british hanged all of them is a pointer to the stupidity of their own foolishness. You don't fight the biggest super power on earth with good heartedness and a how should I say it ? "Dil dariya gaand samandar" attitude...

How is it said, A man's gotta do what's he gotta do...

Gandhi was British single point of contact with India. Any trouble in India, talk to Gandhi, reason with him, things are gonna be ok. That's what the british did. Al right ? That included congress with it's variety of great leaders.

Gandhi was happy to be a british slave. All he wanted was equality to the british white as a member of the royal british empire.

Don't derail this thread by making it a Gandhi thread..

Ad hominem . Happens when you have nothing to contribute .

Look man being an Indian we can discuss everything under the sun, but I don't agree that what Gandhi did was for the betterment of India. I am not a fan of Gandhi .... we are stuck with him that's an unfortunate reality which we have to live with. Otherwise I would give two squirts of piss about a man who ruled in favor of Nehru despite a mandate being in favor of Patel. Gandhi was a weak man, but rode on his popularity to fcuk up with an Independent India.
