Iran being an extremely unstable and volatile nation would always stay sanctioned unless the regime changed---so no deal could be done with iran---and should not have been.

Honestly speaking, if the Iranians gave us a good deal we should have gone with it. Unfortunately the issue is that we are cash strapped, and they are heavily sanctioned. The last thing we would like to do is build a pipeline + infra and then have it shutdown. But something tells me, their rates would have been definitely better than Qatar.
